Does anyone have a good sample file of a cash register going "cha-ching"? If not, I may just cut the one out of the intro of a certain song that my friend Floyd wrote...

ok, but if the piece is copywrited, can my friend Floyd sue me? I don't want to get banished to, like, the Dark Side of the Moon or anything. (and I'm rolling my eyes at my own post as I type this)

one could use a lesser known remake of a (we'll call him MR PINK) intro and i seem to remember just such a thing in the italian job.... just after the score at the begining

that true, it's actually a good remake, tho very different, it's very cool...so is the movie for that matter.

You know... CEP2 has a pretty good wav editor. I should just take that sound, zoom in, and cut and paste sections of the sound itself. I'll just swap little bits so the two aren't identical. Then it would be an entirely different sound effect. If found by Mr. Floyd (odds are astronomically against it) that would - probably - legally be the same as a new arrangement of an old song, and perfectly legal.
Wait... what about samples that are used in other music? Y'know, tv, movie sound samples. Aren't those protected by the law for fair use by anyone for that purpose?

You know, this is stupid... I have a tape recorder in my car, and I know the guy who runs the register at the deli downstairs. I should just record the damn sample myself. hahaha No legal games. I guess I could get sued by NCR but I'll take my chances on that one...

I haven't gotten the sample yet, so if Jamie or anyone does have one handy, feel free to email it to me with my thanks. :)

i havn't got one flame, unfortuantely all the stores around here have these damn digital cash registers and they don't make that cool sound anymore :OP

just a tidbit: someone online figured out that a computer rpg game i play called Might and Magic: The Mandate of Heaven uses these three diff sounds when you pick up treasure and gold and supposedly all three of them are from that same Floyd song. so if a major soft developer can get away with it...

I like the first one a little better... the way it'll be used is to join two vocal lines in a chorus, with a slight pause in between. The shorter duration of this one www.ebcba.com/wavs/ch-ching.wav will work a little better there, for rhythmic continuity. "and we'll pay the radio stations to play along.... *cha-ching* it's the world's best song..."

I see your point there TC, it doesnt have the big Ka-CHING like the second one. When I played it, it just didnt sound the same.
