send your channel "to piano roll", switch the snap from "auto" to which ever resolution you desire, there you go

Just do something, instead of chatting with you al night I've been resorting to stuff like cleaning, doing laundry, and making music. Dude I'm productive without you... it sucks. lmao

i'm not so sure about bending notes on the wav sampler, but alot of VST and DX synths offer a "portamento" or "glide" feature built in that do great bends and jump over hoops and junk. but i won't tell you about that now, cause you might forget

Frooty question: how do you change tempo in the middle of a song?

I believe Fuity has a tempo map, you just open it and set a new tempo and the time you need it to change.

I dont have fruity installed at the moment, but I believe you can access it from the piano roll view. But again I am not sure.

there's a couple ways; right click on the tempo thing and choose "Edit Events" - you can draw in curves here like you can for any fruity parameter

i recommend this way instead: set you pattern to whice ever blank pattern you decided to make your "Main Automation" track and set the playback to "song mode", click the Record button so it lights up, now press play and just tweak the tempo at the appropriate points. make sure you turn off the Record button when you're done

now, i'd like to see Reason do THAT!

grab it with your mouse, forty! click and drag the display up and down, hold Ctrl down for a more delicate tweak. or just click the little up/down buttons

Do we need to write an article on proper point and click methods?

"now press play and just tweak the tempo at the appropriate points"

i guess i need to look at it/have it in front of me. i dont understand where the tempo control is. what display? i think you're saying to drag the 'automation line' or whatever.

no one liked my wonderful joke. that's high comedy.

i always find it helpful to actually make 5-minute wav files (low-quality) of whatever click at whatever tempo. it's very easy to do with acid. you set up the click track instruments you want, save the file, and adjust the tempo whenever you need a new click track. this way, you can edit where, how loud, and if you want to fade the click track. it works especially well for songs that change tempo. you can put the click wherever the song's tempo changes, and tell them that they will get 4 clicks if they have a chance to hold it. you can also arrange the click tracks so that you can do the 1-3 BPM increase for energy.

hey good idea with the +1-3 for energy. thats a tactic i forgot all about.

Hey guys I'm a newb here. Great site BTW.

I can't get FL to change the tempo back and forth. I've been trying to get the drums to drop from 115bpm, to 105, and then back to 115, two times in the song. I can get it to change once, but can't get it to jump back up to the original tempo.

I've tried through Event editor, as well as the recording method mentioned here.

I've been playing with it for 3 freakin' days! plz help.

thx DT

Any help greatly appreciated.

The last time I played with FL (admitedly a long time ago) it's biggest drawback was time signature and tempo changes...as far as I know thats still the case.

I don't use Fruity, but a different sequencer. But I always render whatever I've sequenced to wav so I can do some editing in my multitracker. If you were to do this, you could render the part you want at tempo(1) then change the tempo in fruity, and render at tempo(2), and then merge the two in your wav editor or multitracker (assuming you have those).

I guess it's not the easiest process, but it is a work around.

ive got the software to slow down a sample of the drums to the desired bpm if this helps - though obviously that depends what youre doing...

Thx for the help guys. It's just a drum track for a rock song. A buddy and I are trying to start a band and we're putting songs down, but don't yet have a drummer. So I've been making drum tracks with FL to play to. I might just do what coolo suggested. I'll render each peice separatly in FL, then piece them back together in Cakewalk.
