Alright, I'm making a wish list of gear and software I want to get over time. I have one question though... Which is better, Nuendo, Cubase SX, or Sonar?

Oct 03, 2003 05:02 am Better based on what? Full blown features-based, I think Nuendo, it does your dishes too, but functionally I would have to go with Sonar.

Oct 03, 2003 07:59 pm Cubase SX 2.0 eats Nudeno alive for songwriting roles (well, sorta :)
I want a Focusrite Compounder Platiunum - please.... :D

Oct 04, 2003 02:24 am Better based on full blown functuality and features... which would be the best bang for my buck

Oct 04, 2003 05:07 am SX 2.0 my friend.
Oct 04, 2003 05:24 am what's better BMX, Mongoose, or Murray?
Oct 04, 2003 07:32 am bang for buck, I go with Sonar.
Ford or Chevy? You are asking an impossible question with no real answer.
Oct 04, 2003 07:50 am Dude, if what you want is bang for your buck, what you will have to do is look at the Sonic Foundry Acid pro 4 bundle. service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear
Best bunch of software for $150 I have even seen...collapse uses Acid and makes some pretty awesome music with it. It's VERY capable software.

Oct 06, 2003 03:47 am I never really looked at Acid... I've always considered it consumer level I guess.
Oct 06, 2003 05:20 am Acid is actually and EXTREMELY powerful program that often isn't given the credit it deserves.
And, well, you ARE a consumer ;-)

Oct 06, 2003 09:49 am The brand new SONAR 3 is just amazing!!
Oct 06, 2003 09:52 am no, it's good, it would be amazing if they would enter this centure and start supporting surround.
I am going to the Guitar Center cakewalk seminar and ask 'em about it...

Oct 06, 2003 09:54 am you tell em! also, tell intuitive to release a new version already...im dying for the the midi / vst version!
Oct 06, 2003 10:06 am Can't tell them anything. They have, without a doubt been the most unresponsive company I have ever been associated with. it really kinda ticks me off.
But I digress...if they would at least RESPOND to my inquiries I would be happy, even if they were saying "no", I just want responses and I don't get them...

Oct 08, 2003 03:38 pm about ACID- what I meant by consumer grade is that I thought it was geared more toward recreational use, not full on pro quality music production. I know I'm not great at what I do but I at least wanna use pro level gear. heh
Oct 08, 2003 03:45 pm Well, if it's good enough for collapse, considering the quality of music he gets out of it, it'd be good enough for me...

Oct 11, 2003 08:22 pm No way Loki. I used Acid hugely before I started using P5. And before Sonar put in the smae type of tracking in their software. for the money, Im with dB on Acid being a great buy. But if your looking for a full blown app. that will do it all and then some, both Sonar and Cubase rock. I am partial to Sonar as Im in it for the long haul with cakewalk, but I really have been pndering updating my Steinberg software as well. But that said, I will still be using Soanr as my main tracking software DAW.
