Jul 24, 2002 09:23 pm I have used AmpFarm and found it to be very good. Lenny Kravitz recorded an entire album with a dry guitar straight into the PC and then wacked it up with AmpFarm, with very good result's.
So I am not sure what amp sim you used, but I would be guessing it was not a good one. Let us know what it was, so we can be aware of the good, the bad and the ugly.

Jul 25, 2002 10:53 pm I believe Sonar come's with what is known as AmpSim. I have only used AmpFarm in TDM, which is ProTool's. I think it is available now in both VST and DirectX, but I am not sure. I will do a little surfing and find out.

Jul 27, 2002 02:37 pm The AmpSim light in Sonar take's some practice and patient's to tweak, but it does work OK, not as good as Amp Farm though.

Aug 06, 2002 07:04 pm I have also been looking for a decent amp sim. I tried to download a demo for revalver but couldn't get it to work at all.
If I find something that sounds good I will repost and let you know.

Aug 07, 2002 09:48 am I agree with Noize, I've found pretty good uses for the cakewalk amp sim, for example to add edge to a bass track and make it cut through the mix or for add a little distortion to a vocal part.
Well for me it has a creative use with any instrument or track and for guitar I like amplitube and even revalver with more tweaking.
Just my opinion!!

Aug 11, 2002 07:38 pm Yes, Revalver is a good piece of software. I had forgotten about that one.
