Johnny Cash...now who didn't dig him? story.news.yahoo.com/news...eople_cash_dc_6

And John Ritter as well, one of the greatest comedic actors that I remember. Dude was a riot, it's sad he dies right before his 55th birthday. Too young.

Sad.
When I saw the 'Hurt' video I was knocked out by it, a rare treasure in a sea of efluent on MTV. Just awesome.

You've just got to get out and see these old guys when they play live, before its too late.

cash was impressive. his voice was always great to listen to because it was so unaffected and pure. i love that, especially these days, when everyone is breathless and fake. it's the only special effect that you have to do nothing to attain, except be yourself. but i was most impressed by how he would dip into current music and choose covers. how cool is a 71 year old who plays acoustic nine inch nails? it gives me hope for my geriatric future. he also did 'rusty cage' by soundgarden on an album in 1994. and glenn danzig wrote a song just for him called 'thirteen' which cash also adopted. he was great to drink to in smoky bars. ring of fire is a nice whiskey drinking song. i'm glad there are people like cash, and i wish there were more. i have hope for beck, in the far future.

Not to be to pessimistic or anything, but in the next 10-15 year, we are going to lose a lot of great talent from all across the board. It's almost true when they say they dont make em like that anymore.

True, great talent still exists, but the "System" is not bringing them up to the front of the "Stage" anymore.Instead careers are traded in for who can make the quickest buck. No wonder bands rarely last more than a decade these days in the spotlight. We have not had a serious global music sensation since Nirvana. Opps, I was wrong, since the Spice Girls ( Yuk!!!).
