New song uploaded (Here I Go Again)

I just finished my first new recording and I'd like to get some comments on the mix and how the vocals and everything sounds.

The drum track is just is just a place holder right now so there's no fills just a straight beat, but I'd still like comments on how they are sitting in the mix.

The song is "Here I Go Again".

Thanks all comments/critiques appreciated

hmm, plays fine here. It shows under play stats that you guys played it <G> If you still have problems, I'll see if dB will upload it to my music section here for you guys to check out.

Any of the other songs play for you? Maybe Nowhere was just having some hiccups or something.

thanks flame: modern day kinks huh? ;) I can live with that. :) how does the mix sound overall?

I have trouble sometimes getting NWN to play streams in Media Player, I think it's something that Waldo has acknowleged...

I think that it sounds great. I'm too much of a newbie to really make any constructive comments on the mix. I like your voice, it kind of reminds me of the guy from TV on the Radio or an early Peter Gabriel or something. I like the background vocals too.

I love this tune, I think it has a Beatleish - 1966/67, just after the Mersy Beat and the British Invasion, when the Byrds and Beatles had that 12 string thing goin on - kinda sound.
Vocals are excellent , I especially like the backing vocals. Mixing/Mastering? Who cares, sounds great to me.

Thanks Crash & Tadpui.

It's always interesting to me to see the range of influence's people see in other peoples music, and how it compares to how I percieve the song. This particular one to me sounds very 60's to me with alot of Beatle influence and it's probably the only 1 I've written that I think has a heavy Beatle influence inspite of them being my all time favorite group. :)

I had one that the comments ranged from Boston,- Cheap Trick and Ozzy (this one surprised me lol) I may not hear the various influence's like others do, but so far the batting average for influence has been all groups that I like alot so it must be there <G>

As for the Mix/Mastering, I'm just trying to get an idea of how my setup sounds vs others so that when I put them on sites like NoWhere and Soundclick I can be reasonably sure that at least the mix is good.

Thanks again to all. :)

For those that were having problems with NoWhereradio site, dB has fixed my upload problem and the song is available now on HRC.

Check it out and give me your comments, much appreciated. :)

Listening to it now... except for the vocals, makes me think of early Police with some Beatles flavor. That's a nice song, found myself tapping along with the beat.

very nice, olddog!

i like your songwriting sensibility. nice and simple, melodic and effective. it's particularly evocative when the backing vocals come in.

Thanks Tincanbug, & fortymile. I'm gonna tackle something a bit more current sounding now, though I'm sure I'll always sound dated. I have one of my old songs that I think with a little tweaking will fit in pretty well with todays crop of music and I think thats the one I'm going to work on next. Still having a little problem with getting my rythm consistant on the guitar but it's getting there. :)

its not too hard to tweak a song to make it sound more modern. just make sure you're not using a dated rhythm. it seems that rhythms are the first things to culturally "expire." chord progressions can be endlessly renewed. then just be sure to use some strange EQ and electroni-cized drums.
