M-Audio Delta 44

Hey guys, I am seriously looking into the Delta 44 soundcard for my system. But I would like some input on how it works with some stuff...

First of all...
Does it work well with capturing heavily distorted guitar?

And the only other thing is...
Does anyone know if it works well with the Steinberg Nuendo program?
That is my multitrack program of choice right now...

Yes, yes, and yes. (The third "yes" was just for reassurance)

i think you'll find that the Delta will capture just about anything you throw at it well. What your signal path going to look like? Something like this?

Guitar > Amp > Micropone > Mixer > Delta ????

Yeah most likely...

Actually probably one or both of these...

Guitar > Effects Box > Amp > Mic > Mixer > Delta
or
Guitar > Effects Box > Mixer > Delta

Okay... So, I got the Delta 44, and I am having one hell of a time setting it up...

A couple things are going wrong...

1.
While playing a .wav file the playback freezes after maybe a second.

2.
In Nuendo, it won't show all 4 inputs... it's only showing 2

Anyone have any ideas???
I am at a loss.

Right.

Which OS are you running, Windows XP? Download the latest drivers from the M-Audio website www.m-audio.com - that should help with the freezing problems.

If this still does not resolve things, then you may also need to disable your onboard soundcard in the BIOS (if that's what was in the system before) or move the Delta 44 PCI card to another slot.

As for the inputs in Nuendo, press F5 and you should be presented with the inputs box (well, that's what it is in SX, you may need to consult you Nuendo Manual) - this will allow you to enable the extra inputs on the card.

I am running Windows ME... So I could probably get some updated drivers for that I assume. I have an integrated audio card (which sucks) and I had a Soundblaster Live card that I removed...

I tried that in Nuendo and it isn't seeming to work... no clue why. I tried it in Cubase 5 as well... no luck.

If you can disable the integrated card in your PC's BIOS that would be a good idea...well, when you get the Delta anyway.

Also, many people have reported huge probs with ME, personally, It would be second choice of Windows OS after XP as I had great luck with it, but I am the minority it appears. You may want to consider upgrading to XP.

The Delta44 should work darn well with Nuendo, as they are both ASIO powered which will (or SHOULD) give you stellar performance.

Yeah, I was just at the M-Audio website and it had a detailed explanation of how to set it up with Nuendo :)...
Also there were some newer drivers on there as well so I'll try that. I think I am going to do a system restore before any of that though... I have a lot of unnecessary crap on that comp. Thanks for the help. I disabled the integrated audio card from device manager... is that the same as from the BIOS?

No, it's not the same, but hopefully it'll help...

Oh you mean from the thing before windows ...
that has all your port settings and stuff right?
Man, I'll have to remember how to get into that.
Thanks again for the help...

So, I got everything taken care of EXCEPT...

Nuendo still will not give me the 4 inputs for the 44, only 2.

Here's the process...
Devices
Device Setup
VST Multitrack
Select "M-Audio Delta ASIO"

that's when I get an error message saying:
Audio Engine Error: Could not activate the ASIO driver M-Audio Delta ASIO.

Any idea why?
