What is the best plug-in or hardware to totally manipulate a sample? I.e., making a standard trumpet (wav or aiff) file into the sound of an elephant being savagely attacked by a poodle dog!
Basically I want to edit my sounds alot.
I use Logic

Jul 26, 2003 08:32 am You see, that's not really a question that we can answer - there are varous effects that do a whole range of different things.
Check the Link Directory for some links to free VST instruments. Also, check out KvR Instruments, which is a HUGE directory chock full of plugins...

But really, jues is right, it's a tough question, you may also want to consider opening the sample in a softsynth to hack it to bits as well.
Jul 26, 2003 01:05 pm Many of us use WaveLab or SoundForge for sample editing. If you can't afford a high-end audio editor, check out Audacity, it's a free VST host with all the basic editing functions. I'm a WaveLab user myself, becuase I prefer VST plugins; I've got tons of them.
