I was thinking it might be a convenience if I bought a set of wireless headphones. I was wondering if any of you guy's have any or have tried some out? I thought they might be a bit of a pain in one way because of interference. I guess it might depend upon the brand and the frequencies.. or whatever. Thanks

don't do it. i have tried many brands, prices, and types (IR, 900mhz, everything.) and they are just awful. the noise is just annoying. sure you will be able to hear what's going on but for the money it's really not worth it.

Thanks el musico. I kind of had a feeling that they might have problems. I guess anything wireless is bound to. See, I don't care for the cord mess. I know it's a reality for a studio but I thought I might free myself from being connected to one more cord. Oh well..it sounded like a good idea. Thanks Again!

Yeah, wireless would be a major plus. I'm sick of destroying all my pairs of headphones by tripping on their cords and breaking the connection. I've never tried the stuff they have out now, though.

Hey PorpoiseMuffins, I feel the same way. I don't like cords of any kind. Mic, guitar, patch, phone...any of them. I even hate extension cords. Like I said, I know it's a reality for a studio but it would sure be a big plus to be free of some of them. Take it easy dude!

theres a company locally developing bluetooth (wireless, kinda like infra red, but using microwave signals instead) mics and headphones...basically there meant to be like the conventional ones, but without the radio signal so they'ree top digital quality...all ya need is a bluetooth connector for your pc (about £30 here) and you'll be away...

(note : i dont understand much about this bluetooth stuff, so any factual errors here should be disregarded!)

sounds like a cool concept anyway...the mobile phone store i do does wireless headsets for phones which work along much the same principle...

The infra red's a great idea. Radio signal products always seem to have interference. That will be awsome for studio's.

flame that's great, because with a digital-based wireless we would totally eliminate noise during that stage of the signal, and that seems to be tyhe #1 problem with the current wireless systems.

ok... infrared headphones suck too. they require line-of-sight to work, even if you are off a few degrees like turning your head. i know this because a buddy has a pair off of one base that he uses frustratingly.
of course i have tried bluetooth mice for pc's and they seem to work great and without interference. bluetooth headphones would be cool and costly. i think bluetooth is digital but i'm not sure as to what coomunication protocol it uses... just know that bluetooth doesn't = infrared.

as far as wireless systems for guitars, mics etc... the digital systems work very well but they have what's considered to be an acceptable percentage of distortion. of course live you wouldn't hear it with the full band playing and crowd noise but you'd never want to record with it.

In the past I've always kind-a avoided buying wireless stuff; because everyone I ever knew who bought wireless mics or guitar systems, always had problems. But like I said, I avoided it in the past. It's cool to know it's much better now. Years back when I was doing gigs, I always used cords. It's been awhile since I played out. So I've not really thought of looking for paritcular equipment to play out with. But it's always cool to have a good working knowledge of whats out there. Thanks
