I'm curious. Anybody out there using any OS's other than Windows and Macs for recording?

Jul 10, 2003 08:38 pm I would love to see Linux come into the market cuz it is light, fast and stable. Plus, many hardware makers are starting to make drivers for it. However, tho there are some simple text editors and such, there are none that even come close to comparing with the software available for Windows and/or Crap'n'toss...
Jul 10, 2003 11:34 pm Yeah, I don't know that much about Unix, Linux and even Macs for that matter. What I do know is since I work at HP and and am a network technician, is that whenever a virus kicks our windows butts, those Unix guys are just laughin' away. I'll be runnin' around making sure everyone has their virus patches so we can put them back on the network and the Unix group never misses a beat.
Windows I love, but it makes me nervous. It's seems like I live in a building that's ready to fall down and Microsoft keeps sending me more paint.

Jul 11, 2003 01:00 pm linux has a multitracker called audacity (i think) the main hang up with linux is that even though it does networking stuff really fast... it does audio stuff really slow... some recient main kernel updats are supposed to remedy this but it is basically useless for input monitoring (if you do thet type of thing)
