Ok I need some expert advice and I figured the quickest way to get some good help would be from you guys. Heres the deal: I am running Windows XP. I usually record my voice overs through cool edit pro. My computer just crashed so I am using my wife's laptop as a back up. I need to know what a few options are 450$ and below!!! I need a good external soundcard that will take a good signal from my mixer and not change it. I need a really clean sound, I thought I could go the cheap route and bought creative Extigy and it was a complete waste of my time , too much ground noise and a hollow sound. Basically all I will use this for are vocals on a laptop. I would like to continue to use Cool Edit Pro but if the card doesn't support that then I'll make do....Please guys, help me....I'm in a bind!!!
Thanks

Roughneck,
Have you checked into that M Audio USB one? I think it's about $250 or $300 from newegg.com
I like the delta44 I got, but it's internal

hey grumpeedad,

Thanks for the idea, I looked into it....so far it looks like that will be my best bet.....I have the audiophile 2496 on my desktop pc and I'm completely satisfied. This looks like the USB version of the audiophile. I didn't even know this item existed. Thanks again. Also, if anyone else has a suggestion on this item or another one...I'm still researching.

All I can say is DO NOT bother with the M-Audio Quattro range. I had one of those on my Toshiba Laptop and I had no end of problems (it was a nightmare, trust me :).

The new USB 2496 seems like a good bet, but it may also be in your interst to check out ESI's products (www.esi-pro.com/).

jues.

Echo makes the Layla laptop... But I think that's a bit over the price range. Laylas are sweet though.
