Hey all, here is an "off the floor" jam recording of the Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly. Not really looking for critique as it is just a recording of one of our jams and as such I have left the "banter" in at the beginning. It was so much fun I had to post it. This is also a bit of a test to see how well the streaming is working from my new website.
Cheers!

Jan 19, 2011 02:03 pm Haha, sounds great regardless. Cept for a vocal flub or two. But yeah, no problems getting it to play here.

Jan 19, 2011 02:10 pm Thanks J-bot, yes would have loved to do another take for vocals but not really going to be able to happen. Glad the stream is working good. Thanks for listening!

Jan 20, 2011 03:05 am Nice, BH!
This is the type of thing I dream about...
Jan 20, 2011 08:46 am Love it, love it, one of my fav tunes as well. Vox a bit shaky here and there, but streamed well.

Jan 20, 2011 12:27 pm Thanks guys. If I can find some quiet time I would probably overdub the vocals but right now I'm living at my dad's house with no studio. Might have to climb into the closet or something lol
Oh! and in typical jam form this is one of the first times we played it together which is why we are talking about how the songs goes in the beginning.

Feb 24, 2012 10:53 pm Weren't they just awarded a Grammy for "Walk" which was on that album they recorded in Dave's garage? Saw a video of the garage setup. Granted they had a top notch producer, but still, I saw part of it up on the tv at dinner at Old Chicago, and I remember him making a point about not using a big budget studio to record, but to do the recording in the garage studio. Or something like that anyway.
Feb 25, 2012 02:40 am Yeah it was recorded in his garage on tape. No computers. Old school. With the producer of Nevermind from Nirvana. Thats why it RULES. Also the Foo Fighters are one of the best rock groups of all time.

Feb 26, 2012 05:32 pm Yeah, I dig the Foos too. Some very tallented mo-mos there...
That clip that J-bot was refering to, had me eyeing 1" 8-tracks for a while. I came down, though. I don't know how much practicing I'd have to do to keep myself from wasting hundreds of dollars of tape and my mind during editing, but... I'm sure it would be too much. = p
Looking forward to the +vox version, BH.

Mar 03, 2012 03:54 pm You don't sound much like Dave, which when you talk about a cover is a really good thing. I like your distinct vocal sound. How did you record this? Well placed mics to get a good balance? I have absolutely no experience in live/jam recording. Its all multitrack for me haha.
