Need a firewire interface with only one or two inputs for a mic but no instruments. Will be using eastwest QL vst's only. There are 3 ive read good reviews on but i don't read many bad reviews on any gear i look at.
Focusrite pro 24, E-mu 1616m PCIe( no w7 drivers) and the new TC electronic Impact twin, all are in my budget. Also looked at the echo audiofire2 & 4.

Sep 06, 2010 09:34 pm as ive made abundantly clear im totally in love with the focusrite stuff, so thats the one that gets my vote. I think they have an even newer smaller (slightly cheaper) unit. U have to get the ones in the new series to eralyl reap the benefits becoz even if u dont need to now, if u do want to expand in the future u can daisy chain their units very easily and go from just 2 inputs to 10.
The pres on teh focus r great so if ur only workign on mic stuff than that will be handy and i think all in all its very stable and easy to use unit.

Sep 06, 2010 11:28 pm Yep, those are all quality brands of interfaces, and I think any of those would last you a good long time.
I've had my echo audiofire4 for a few years now, still loving it. Drivers are rock solid, works with both my xp box, and my win7 laptop. Never had a problem with it. The audiofire2 with its fewer inputs and cheaper price would definitely be worth looking at.
