Hi all,
I'm trying to pitch-shift entire songs ,some Van Halen and AC/DC's like Highway to hell. these songs aren't tuned to A:440 and I would like to have this songs shifted to "standard concert pitch" A:440 .
I'm trying SoundForge and has this pitch-shift effect but I'm tuning the songs by ear .
Is there a way to do it faster and more "accurate".
Greetings from Peru.

Jun 19, 2010 10:00 am Waves has a plug called Tune or something, it actually charts out the song after u play it through, and then it sjust a matter of moving the whole thing to where u want it
Im pretty sure melodyne does the same thing, but ive only used the Waves plug

Jun 19, 2010 01:14 pm Adobe Audition has a good pitch shifter and has a 30 day trial.
Melodyne will do it also, there is also a demo of it but you can only tune the about 10 sec's with the demo, but it has alot more control and does a better job than any thing else I've used. Or the cheapest option just tune your guitar 1/2 step down. :)
Van Halen's stuff is tuned 1/2 step lower, so if SF will let you raise by cents, just raise it 100 cents, likely the same for AC/DC.

Jun 21, 2010 10:24 pm thanks for reply guys, I had to raise AC/DC's highway to hell 50 cents to be able to play along. I wonder why some bands tune a quarter step down...
Jun 21, 2010 11:19 pm I read once led zeppelin played in a pitch tonality (not using the right terms here :P bear with me) that was used before equal temperament....maybe not that long ago...i can't remember the details here. Point is, it was the "standard concert pitch" back hundreds of years ago, and for some reason they felt it gave their music a certain vibe most artists didn't have. Makes sense...sort of haha. I'm paraphrasing from a book i read a few years ago, so the details are pretty foggy.

Jun 22, 2010 08:34 am Alot of peeps go a half-step lower to help with singing the stuff night, after night... easier on the voice, I guess.

Jul 01, 2010 03:26 pm Man Pantera too... Dimebag Darrell's tuning is crazy.
But from the old days orchestras would tune slightly sharp to add energy and shift down for emotional weight. cool stuff
