Feb 11, 2010 05:45 am I think the first question is wat will u be doing? recording or playing live and to wat extent, wat style, wat quality r u shooting for?
u can from anywhere from a mic set, to single mics, to just a few nice condensors depending on wat u want to do

Feb 11, 2010 12:10 pm This was my first set, they served me well. They also have a 4 or 6 mic pack if needing less. There are some cheaper packs but I've never used them. These I have used and for the price they performed fantastic.
The zzounds even offers 7 free cables along with it.

Feb 11, 2010 02:03 pm I have the same mic set as Tripps, but it's a 6 pc. set. Works pretty well for me, you can check out my recordings on my profile, I used them on there. I think they are pretty versatile mics too, you can certainly use them for more than drums...
Hard to compare them to anything because I have never used anything else, but these definitely get the job done for me...

Feb 12, 2010 02:59 pm Remember to save for some mic stands and tom/snare mounts ;) I dangled my OH's from some well placed plant hanging hooks until I could afford more stands.
Feb 12, 2010 08:58 pm How much do stands and clips usually cost? I was thinking about that but I thought maybe the set would come with it.

Feb 14, 2010 11:18 am IDk, but i use ribbon mics, they work great just have to mess around with the angles. BUt ive also had much success with nady drum mics in the past.

Feb 14, 2010 01:35 pm About $20-30 each if you shop around. I bought a shorty stand for the kick mic, two for OH, and three clip ons for my toms n snare. Wasn't cheap but is needed. Any stand will work though, shop craigslist maybe.
And no, that drum mic package does not include them, cool it comes with cables though, that will save another $100 or so.
Feb 20, 2010 12:38 am Thanks for all your help guys.
I hope you stand ready to answer further noobie questions I have about drums!
