Bummer 'bout the band, man... you guys have been at it for a while, now. I hope that you'll be getting something else up and running soon.

Now now...let's not get completely dismal. Pick up a license for the former works from creativecommons.org based on your hopes for future projects.

If you plan to continue in the songwriter/performance capacity maybe you'd be inclined to look at a "Attribution, Share Alike" CC license so that other artists can use your work and attribute your name if they use a hook from your song etc...it's my understanding that this will not necessarily generate profit for you if someone borrows a melody...but they must attribute your name. The potential gain is that you may be tapped as a songwriter in the future (especially if you're already making efforts to be known in that capacity). If an artists uses your idea and fails to attribute you by the method of your choosing then the license is broken and they are no longer entitled to use your melody/hook/creativity.

If you would rather see the catalog remain in one piece you might look at the "Attribution, no derivatives" CC license. This would ensure that you'd never have to deal with watching some schmuck get rich off that hit single you and Noize picked out a few months ago. This one, as I understand it, ensures that you have the right to recoup revenue earned from a song if a hook or lyric is borrowed without permission...and if you can prove it of course.

All CC licenses assume that redistribution will not be punished. Read: You can't sue Joe Blow for seeding your album to 900,000 peers.

Yeah, Hue... we were at it for a while. I am taking a break from the band mentality for a while. Just writing here at the house, recording everything that comes to mind. I'm working with a couple of artists as 'producer' and will continue to be open for other opportunities

Very interesting Quincysan, I'll look into it but I'm not sure what the band would like to do as a whole.

Here's a quote I found to be extremely relevant to me, now more than ever since parting ways from my studio (tallcat productions) and my band:

"Employ the power of positive quitting. Most of us view quitting as something negative, but it’s not. ‘Winners never quit,’ we’re told, when, in reality, winners quit all the time: choosing to stop doing things that aren’t creating the results they desire. When you quit all the things that aren’t working for you, when you quit tolerating all the negative things that hold you back, you’ll create a positive ‘charge’ in your life as well as create the space in your life for more positive experiences." - Jim Allen
