I'm thinking about getting it, for it's quite cheap and very good from what I've heard/read.

'Condenser' type mic is prefered when it comes to recording vocals, right? What do You think about it?

I'm also interested in Your expierence with 'phantoms', cause I've read they often cause trouble.

I have the B3, which is the 3 pattern version of the B line. I've done a few vocals with it (my sister, in my music profile: time in a bottle). I've recorded out front of a drum set, around 3 feet from the kick, a little above, and got a great kit sound, that I added in with the 2 overheads.

I now have a C1, which I haven't done enough thorough testing to tell if it's that much better, but I've been pretty happy with the B line. I replaced it when my house burned, so there you go. Nice mic for the $$$ (or other currency).

What do you mean 'phantoms'? If you mean phantom power, I've had no problem with it. Just turn it on, and turn it off. I've heard to not unplug the mic with phantom on, as it could hurt the mic, so I always turn on phantom after plugged in, and turn it off before unplugging.

As far as 'preferred', that is somewhat subjective. I'd say that a good dynamic will be better than a cheap condensor, but a 100$ condensor will probably give you better vocals than a 100$ dynamic. There's been a lot of talk about the shure sm7b, as a dynamic vocal mic. massivemaster is a big fan, and i think a few others have gotten one too. I think they're 350$us, so there's that to think about.

Personally, I think that with good technique, good room, and good mixing, the B1 can be quite good (especially for the money).

In marketing literature and music videos, absolutely. In "real life" - Questionable. Not that condensers are bad - But they tend to pick up just what's happening - Something rarely encountered when recording vocals.

One of the greatest and most flexible vocal mics ever designed at any price.

For opera, gangs, choir and "instrumental" voices (think Mariah Carey, Barry White, etc.) I'd throw up a condenser (usually with a good LDD right underneath it). For just about everything else - Rock, rap, pop, metal, folk, I'm probably dragging out the 7b (or in some cases, a RE20 or MD421 - Often overlooked). Just worked on a project last week with the most "perfect for the mix" vocals I've heard in a long time. Called the tracking engineer to find out what he used: MD421. Called the mixing engineer to find out what he did to it - Nothing. A tiny bit of vocal buss compression. No EQ, no verb, no delay, no doubling.

Granted - That's also rare - Doing almost nothing. But with the right mic, you certainly "need" to do so much less... Get a mic that actually flatters the human voice (instead of trying to reproduce it perfectly) and there's not much left to do come mixdown...

I'm sure U'r right (hence Master :D, but this Shure is 5 times more expensive than B1 and that's much for a beginner - thanks for support anyway! :)

I have a B1 and I am not really overly impressed with it. It sounds a bit harsh to me. I have a few Apex mics that are priced around the same and I find them to be much better. Heck, look into the Karma mics. Also, what MM said, I often use a SM58 instead of a condenser. I guess the bottom line is that there are better mics out there in the same price range as a B1.

I use the B1's in my studio and they work great for the price. A lot of quality for the price. I would be glad to email one of my MP3's that use that mike.
