In one of my ASP6 monitors I'm getting a bad sound. I know I'm going to use the wrong term so please correct me...When a certain frequency range is played at a high enough volume the monitor will buzz...almost as if there were a piece of paper sitting on the cone during a time when that cone was pulsing. It almost sounds like there could be a wire behind the speaker butting up against the cone...did I buy a monitor with a bum 6" speaker? I don't see any cracks or anything...and I didn't hear anything BEFORE I brought it home... Should I crack the puppy open and look for stray wires etc.??

Aug 05, 2009 10:07 pm Bummer, man. It is possible that it is just what you're thinking... especially since you don't see any appearant dammage. Couldn't hurt to take a look-see, right? Hopefully it's just a matter of moving the wire farther away from the cone?
Aug 05, 2009 10:09 pm The spiders could be torn. Take out the 6" driver. Then push up on the cone. Look at the folded material (The Spiders) and make sure that there are no rips or tears. If it;s not there, then look at the top surround. Make sure that no rips or tears are there.
If you still find nothing, then push the cone up and down. Listen for any rubbing.
Aug 06, 2009 06:17 pm yeah to second what rob said, gently push the speaker in with your hands (evenly) and if you hear a "card shuffling" type sound, then yeah you might need a new cone (bummer!).....i know you got a sweet deal on 'em, and this might be why.....on the good side, if you keep the volume lower, this won't really affect the sound much...but if it's dooin' it at moderate levels...ya might wanna look into gettin' a new cone.....
sorry to hear about this man, i know we kinda hyped up the events to ya, and i hate to see ya get one that's sub-par.

Aug 07, 2009 08:34 pm Yep, they pretty much got the other bases covered for you.
Bummer though if they turn out to have a bad driver on one.
