Waves plugins with Cubase

So I use Cubase SX, and when I try to install my waves plugins, here is what happens.

I go through the normal installation, everything seems to be fine. I open Cubase, and under my inserts tab, I have a tab called DirectX.

When I expand that, all of my plugins show up. When I go to select the plugin to use it, I get an error that says

Can't find filter, please register vstdx.dll again.

Any thoughts? Thanks guys.

Try opening a command prompt in the folder where vstdx.dll lives (system or system32 maybe?) and try this command:

regsvr32 vstdx.dll

You should get a pop up window telling you if it succeeded or not. That'll register the .dll, but no promises that'll actually solve the problem.

I would re-install Cubase if your having dll problems. That's what customer support would tell you as well, almost guarantee it. Are you using DirectX as your ASIO? Or for monitoring purposes?

Wouldn't contacting Waves customer service be an obvious step in the right direction here...?

Yes, it would. If the error message isn't coming from the DAW itself.
But a dll problem more often than not is quickly fixed through re installation. Re-installing Waves would be an alternate solution if that was the program responsible for creating the file.

Stillfire, I have to say thanks for bringing up the ASIO. That was my problem. All I did was switch it around, and I was good to go. Now I get to spend endless hours playing with all these plugs...

Thanks so much to everybody, this is the best source for information ever.

Sometimes the simple answers are the hardest to find. I'm glad your problem is resolved. Glad to hear that your DAW is running with your Plug-ins with you at the helm. Happy Recording.
