CDT CGM-2 Champ stereo Compressor Problem...

I was going to buy a compressor off of ebay for either live or recording setup. I emailed the seller and he said that the transformer started making a physical noise inside of it, but it works fine. I am high bidder at around $15. Is it worth it?
