'Alcohol and amly' - errr, interesting title.

The songs really good actually, I can see why you like it so much - you've paid lots of attention to detail with all the samples, and fizzes. I especially liked the filtered melody at panned hard left at 25 seconds, and the very final sound you use at the end. (how did you make / aquire that!)

The production sounds very "60's" - I don't know if you were going for this effect, it sounds quite cool.

If I was to pass comment I would reccomend you re-record the lead acoustic guitar line, there are a couple of times where it slips off the beat which really throws the whole song - also, the recording sounds a little thing - try to phatten it up a bit.

I wold also suggest that you roll off a bit of the reverb, things are getting a little drowned at times, and if you add vocals, it runs the risk of becoming very muddy.

Finally, I would reccomend a bit of a boost around the Low Midrange (around 550Hz) - keep the Q pretty open and don't boost by too much - just give it a go and you should hear what I am getting at when you try it.

I look forward to the finished version!

Flame,

I hear a lot of very nicely recorded and mixed sounds. The song's "sound" is so distant from what I am trying to create makes it really rough to comment on the song. Sorry. The big thing I hear is your growth between songs. Definately progressing in a possitive direction!

cool, cheers for listening guys!

re jues' comments:

firstly, the sound at the end is a slide up a bass string dropped a few tones and slowed right down - cool eh? i like it anyway...

60s sound? cool! spot on what i was looking for, so thats definately a compliment

acoustic track is a bit ropy now ya mention it...job for tomorrow - rerecord or turn down in the mix!

as for the eq...ill try it and let ya know..anything in particular need attention or just the track as a whole?

and yeah walt, i see where youre coming from..and im getting there slowly!

cheers again for listening guys!

Woah. That last sound... the tuned down bass string thing... it's scary. It sounds like a monster or somethng.

I like the song as a whole tho. I can't wait to hear vocals!

Hmm, if the reverb is already on the sample then the only thing I can suggest is maybe using an exapnder to duck the volume inbetween the hits, thus lessening the reverb tail.

Give it a go - if you have difficulties then send me the drum loop via email and I can give it a go this end.

As for the guitar line - definatly re-record it, don't drop it in the mix, it's mixed just right.

Flame, thats a bit of a differant sound for you. I like it, especially the shift for the twisted samples and such, then silence, the the whole thing starts bangin. I cant wait to hear it when its finished. jues made some good suggestions, I will leave it at that for now, and give it a listen a bit louder tommorrow.

Flame, Please don't mistake me. I think you growing by leaps and bounds! I am just an obsesive compulsive old fart. Working like hell to get that crystal clear jazz combo sound. You know every little sound right there. So I hear your drums and guitar and want to clean them up because the quality is there. Of course that is not the sound you are searching for. I just can't make the leap because my head is too busy with the sound I am looking for.

Damn good work dude!
