Hope you're all having fun scaring the bejeebus out of your co-workers...or at the very least garnering the odd look because you came into work in full costume as I have! :]

Heh, I got a picture taken from the staff camera, so hopefully I'll have a couple pics of me up here soon. Only unfortunate thing is I forgot to bring the shirt that goes with it. I had planned to change after lunch, but alas it will have to wait. I did bring my daggers though, and yeah I work on campus. :P They're sitting in my desk drawer for now kinda tucked away. Don't want -too- high a profile here, else university police might get uppity.

Pretty mellow night in the ol' hood tonight...lots of kids, just didn't have that same rowdy vibe with 'em this year.

Still, lots of cute and fun little kid costumes and stuff, now it's the kids that are too old to be out trick or treating anyway :-D

The little cute kids always come early...

It oughta be a law: lazy parents and their physically unfit kids should be forced to actually WALK from house to house instead of climbing in and out of the car every half block.

It was 50 frickin' degrees out. BEAUTIFUL night for this time of the year. Do think you could park the car and walk around for an hour?

You bet. I remember 40-something temps in Oregon October, usually rain and drizzle, when I was a little boy with a paper bag.

1968, I barfed from all the excess. And I liked it.

Jim, they were driving in your hood? WTF? It was a perfect night for trick or treating, man, I just kleft the door open much of the time, had my guitar and was quietly picking, staring out the door between kids...it was awesome outside.

That disgusting kids actually drove.

Hell, my kids got back from a week-long, very tiring, environmental study project on the north shore 30 minutes before trick or treating and SHE walked...

Yeah...I can't believe it! They leave the tailgates up on their mini-vans or SUVs and the kids pile in and pile out at each house. Maybe they get adventurous and go to two or three houses before getting back into the van.

Of course, a lot of kids (most) do walk, but I was just disgusted that on such a beautiful night there were parents that were driving their kids from house to house. OK...if you live out in the country, then you can drive in to town and PARK your car and WALK. Otherwise, get some frickin' exercise before you gorge yourself on chocolate and sugar!

I had the same thing (kids riding in cars), though some parents are worried about 'bad' people, and /or problems with kids walking around un-watched.

eh, i tell the wife, what do you think is gonna happen with 500 other people walking around town in similar fashion.

It was a banner year though, due to the warm weather, i'm sure.

Since the kids had the day off this year from school, the missus (and me) hosted a party for the kids: 11/12 young'uns, with costumes, doing pumpkin carvings, goofy dancing in the basement, no-hands apple eating contests, and taco-salad / mummy wrapped hot dogs.

It was a smashing success, then the gang headed out to T&T as a bunch.

Word of warning though, for those with porch steps, some kids aren't good at navigating steps with a mask on. After one kid sort-of slipped / fell on our steps, we moved our chairs and candy down to the bottom. What a sick feeling watching some kid partially fall down the stairs. He caught the rail, but it was still painful. =/

Had a few cool looking little kids in pretty fancy costumes, most were pretty much the usual though.

Had 3 girls about Rays age come as a school bus with the 2 of them in it. Carrying it on their head. Of course I spaced taking a picture of them.

Had a pickup truck load full of Mexicans come, no costumes, no bags, just holding out their hands and not even saying trick or treat. Thats when I shut the lights out and said enough. And I mean a truck load, about 18 kids being carted around just to grab candy. No fun to it at all.

There are some pics if Ray J as Gumby in my photo's. Pretty funny lookin for a 230 pound kid dressed up as Gumby.

Nice forty, that would be kinda funny indeed.

On the Gumby thing. That costume has been around for a long time. My wife used to wear it 25 years ago when we would go to costume parties. Ray J was stoked to wear it this year and made sure I would take some pix and put em up. He was kinda bummed that it made him look a bit fat, since now he has pretty much lost most of his fat. But considering his mum wore it all those years ago, it just barely fit on his big ol' frame.

pjk, I downloaded the X-Orcism plugin to give it a try. I like it and it's good for having some fun at times. Thanks for the tip!

The clip I tested it on is Herb's "Sound of Silence". Using that one seemed sort of appropriate and I hope that he doesn't mind that I "halloweened" him up a bit. :-) I posted the result so everybody can have a listen:

What did you change? Sounds normal over here.

Thanks for the honor, Nightcap. Pitch benders are fun. It tended to make the music a little nauseating, but hey, I feel that way most days.

Glad you're not offended. ;-) Sorry to hear that the clip sounded normal to you?!? Of course I don't have a clue what state you were in when listening to it... But hey, it's Saturday night and we've got an hour extra tonight, so what the heck! LOL

Interesting effect. I'm sure I can find other uses for it as well somewhere.

As for the costume. Ya, it helps that its been in the cedar chest for the last 16 years or more. Not much partying in that time.

Speaking of costumes, I just uploaded the couple pics of me from work. The thumbnails won't show, but that might because the pics are fairly huge (not filesize, just dimensions) I shoulda cropped em first, but oh well. They show up well enough if you just click on em.

-J

edit: Might be a good idea about the notice dB. Meanwhile, I shrank the pics by 25%, and that seems to have worked pretty well. They've been re-uploaded to boot hehe.

the script auto-generates thumbnails most of the time, but yeah, if they original is too f-in big sometimes it'll puke on it...any uploaded should be converted to 72dpi at the very least, 800 pixels wide max would be nice too.

I think I'll put that on the page shortly...

Yep, I ran into that as well since I shoot my digi on high rez and the size is huge. I shrink em to 800 wide and its good to go. Then the thumbnail shows up.

I see you got em fixed though. Funky costume for sure. Should have had a bit of blood dripping though for effect.:-)

Just cause I'm thinkin of it,

can we get the pictures in our galleries sorted before displaying the thumbnails. It's odd to have 3 pix from theme A, then 1 from theme B, then 2 from theme A again, etc.

Seems like it wouldn't be too much trouble, though I haven't looked at the code. (seemed naughty)
