Anyone ever listen to Pandora Radio on the internet? You go there and type in the name of a band or song and it creates a station with music from that band and music that is a similar style. It seems to give a really good selection of songs from what I've heard so far. And if it plays a song that you don't like, you have the option of telling it to never play that song again. Pretty cool I thought.

Sep 30, 2008 09:30 pm Yep, some of us have been doing it for several years now. I listen when time permits here now and still really like it.
Oct 01, 2008 02:31 pm Yup when I'm forced to work indoors I use it and I LIKE IT. One cool feature is the ability to set up different stations as they call them, with different formats.
Oct 01, 2008 08:01 pm Well I just discovered it so I guess I'm not quite as privy to such things as you Noize.
Yeah I found its great to listen to at work, whenever I get tired of listening to my CDs.

Oct 01, 2008 10:12 pm Ya, I like the stations as well.
Redneck, ya it was posted here several years ago about it and I've been doing it on and off for a long time.
I'm sure your post might spark another bit of interest in it.
I've been supporting the G-Nome project for awhile and think they are doing cool things. It all started out as an experiment. I even went to an open forum discussion panel they had in the cities here a couple of years ago were everyone shared what they liked and dissliked about it. They really pay attention to what the people are after in something like that.

Oct 02, 2008 10:21 am Sounds a bit like Yahoos 'Launcast', which I dabbled with a bit back around '02 . I thought it was pretty neat how they take the info from others 'stations', and use it to add similar types of songs to your own . I found alot of bands that I didn't know about through it... bands that have been around a long time... just never got exposed to 'em .
Does this site charge extra to get a higher quality of playing like Launchcast did ?(4$/mo.) If not, I may look it up, after the move .
Oct 03, 2008 07:00 pm It looks like they have a paid subscription version but I think it just removes the ads on the screen and adds options to listen to Pandora on your phone. I'm not sure what bitrate it plays at.

Oct 03, 2008 10:05 pm Ya, I've never thought about the paid subscription part of it. Not a bad way to support it though as well.
Oct 05, 2008 10:07 pm After reading you guys ranting and raving about it; I decided to give this Pandora a try. It's really cool, and they seem to have an endless playlist. I don't know anybody but myself who has ever even heard of Manhattan Paul Bascomb.
The only hangup: They don't let you listen if you're not American. Thank God for AnchorFree (plug plug).
