The Americana Collection
www.tspcountryradio.com/americana/index.html
Some lady e-mailed me and asked if was OK to play my song "Hats Off to Beer" on her radio program. Aside from the fact that "Hats Off to Beer" is anything but Americana, I didn't know if I should be honored or suspicious. She noted that her syndicated program reaches over 400 AM/FM stations.
Anybody ever heard of Triplestrand Productions or The Americana Collection radio program?
Jim

Jul 28, 2008 11:11 pm well... it doesn't look like talent2K if thats what you're asking :)
I'd ask for some call letters of stations... google isn't geting much and it's possible that it's all on college radio.
or 'reaches' as in recorded as a podcast and mailed...
also they seem to have some financial difficulties...
If it was any other song I'd say just go for it... otherwise make sure that they are real spins at royalty paying stations :)
Jul 29, 2008 06:47 am Hmmmmmmm, well, all I listen to is on the radio is talk stuff so I have never heard of them, but after Googlin' around I found very little as zek did...sadly for everybody the host "Dixie" has a husband that does all that first rate web design (note sarcasm) for musicians...
I couldn't find a list of stations they were played on either...I'd be curious to know where they are played as their artists choices and play lists seem very short and redundant.
Jul 29, 2008 09:01 am Yeah, my little spin around Google didn't turn up much, and that IS about the ugliest web site I've ever seen.
"Dixie" is the lady that e-mailed me. I'll have to ask her a few questions before I just turn her loose with my baby.
Thanks!
Jim
Jul 29, 2008 06:30 pm Yes, I know Dixie. She and her husband Derek have been Christian and commercial songwriters for some time. They got took by one of those "pay us" publishers years ago and then started their own publishing and record co. I don't know the extent of their services though as I've been out of the loop. They were both very active at Christian Songwriters Organization (CSO).

Jul 29, 2008 09:53 pm Dungbeetle??/ Were ya been hiding.
Anyway Jim. The Americana Collection I have heard of. I know that the dude who does the PBS American Roots show has mentioned that and as well Dixie if my mind serves me tonight on his show.
Kinda cool if it pans out.
Jul 30, 2008 09:07 am DungBeetle...good to see you around these parts again. Web site building skills nonwithstanding (like I should talk), I'll take your personal reference of these folks as a sign of assurance. You just never know these days...
Thanks a lot!
Jim
Jul 30, 2008 09:08 am Well, web site building skills are nothing to base judgment of character on unless you are hiring them to build you a web site.
Likewise, the fact they are "Christian" isn't really either, as I know lots of "Christians" I wouldn't trust...the label sounds good, but many use it that aren't really...

Jul 31, 2008 08:00 am A christian radio station want to play a song advocating excessive drinking?
why not eh?
Jul 31, 2008 11:46 am She named her business "Triplestrand" and my old Christian band was "Three Strands." They don't only do Christian music. This is Dixie using her maiden name "Vornbrock" on SoundClick:

Aug 01, 2008 08:13 pm I thought the names sounded familiar. They are from here in Minnesota!!
How did you come to know them Dung???
Aug 02, 2008 01:29 am I was a member at the Christian Songwriters Organization (CSO) for a number of years and so was Dixie and her now husband Derek (I still have an account there). I don't know these people personally and I've never met them, but I've known them online for like 10 years... Witnessed their ups and downs, their path, them creating their music business after being screwed by one of those "pay us" record companies. That's cool they're near you!
