Hey all,

I just uploaded a track of ours that we added live drums to last night. Really, really rough mix. Chris' drum performance was awesome. Really tight. The guy is like a friggin' machine.
It's in my profile, I hope you like it.

Listening on crap laptop speakers, so I won't won't begin to comment on mixing etc. The drums sound a little harsh on these speakers.

However, the song is awesome. The melody is great, and reminds me of World Party's early stuff. You're right, the drumming is very cool.

Can't wait for a true polishing of this one. Pop song. That's a good thing.

Nice tune, my friend.

I, too, am listening on the MacBook speakers. All I'm going to say is that you are certainly putting your audio engineering coursework to good use!

As pro as anything pro. Nicely done!

This mix is really raw. TC there is a bit of harshness coming from the hihat. It is making the whole mix a little harsh. Its not just your craptop speakers.
Jim - the course has been a huge eye opener. The quality of my drum recording has gone up ten fold. I should have done this a long time ago.
Thanks for the listen guys. I'll probably have a pre-master done by the end of the weekend.

I'm listening on the JBLs. Pretty good mix, but it kinda sounds like the highs are fading in & out on the cymbals from time to time, like a cyclical thing. Perhaps an effect you added?

Power on.

I applied some compression and it is probably some pumping that you are hearing. I was pretty tired last night. There could be a lot of funky stuff going on right now.

ok, got rid of that pumping hi hat and put together quite a bit better mix. Still needs that final mastering but otherwise it sounds pretty good to me.

Sounds really good BeerHunter except the panning on the drums makes them sound a bit deep in the mix on my system. Great song, really well done.

Yep, I'm liking it indeed. Have you had a version of this one up before?

You've got the vox sitting killer on this one if you ask me. The bass is sounding really good as well. While it is a bit soft it is still very present and not getting masked by anything.

I have to agree a bit on the drums, but it kind of works in the mix. Although the kick is getting hidden now and then. But I really like the sound of the kick so I wouldn't mess about with it much. Maybe find a way to get a bit more smack into it rather then making the thump louder. Maybe beef up the low middle of it a bit. The toms on the other hand are killer sounding as well and work pretty good from what I can hear.

I'm really digging this one as well, killer tune.
