Ok, it's a little off the beaten path but I figgure who would better know the best virus programs than the folks on this site. A lot of costly software to protect! I have Norton and the subscription is about to run out. What do you all use and hopefully like!

Feb 13, 2003 05:00 pm I use norton, and its been working good for me.
Feb 13, 2003 05:55 pm I have used Norton for years and had only one problem, which was found and fixed by Norton very quickly.
I have also heard great things about NOD32 www.nod32.com/ supposedly very light on the system, quick and quality updates...and VERY good scanning. It might be worth checking out.

Feb 13, 2003 09:29 pm I read a little article on NOD32, and they said it ranked up there with Norton Anti-Viruse.

Feb 13, 2003 11:35 pm I'm gonna give the NOD32 a shot. What hooked me was right on the front page of their website was a worm I have been fighting on one system for a month. Clicked on it and in simple terms I can understand they described its operation and how to erradicate it! Norton just accepted one report of the thing when it could not be cleaned and sent me a curt email saying call tech support.

Feb 14, 2003 07:43 pm I'm using black ice. Nothin is getting in that I don't want in.
Feb 14, 2003 08:37 pm black ice is a firewall. It won't prevent you from launching evil exe's and stuff. all black ice will do is keep out the nosey net neighbors.

Feb 16, 2003 04:53 pm I installed NOD32 for win98. I did not purchase the exchange server software as I do not use that here at home. Now, after having run it for a bit, I am not sure that I am out of the woods yet. I have had the worm rear it's ugly head a couple of times since I put in NOD. NOD does seem to catch it right away and not let it effect the system. With Norton by the time it caught the worm all of my print drivers where blown out. NOD catches it prior to that. But either I am getting repeated exposure to the thing or it is still being regenerated from somewhere within the system. So.... remains to be seen!...for now.
