Hi all,

I've been frequenting some other forums for a few years but got told that I should check this place out, so hiya! I'm Sleutelbos, a beginning musician/composer from the Netherlands. I started with guitar a few years ago and picked up some other instruments after that. Obviously I have a lot to learn so all the advice and suggestions are more then helpfull! I've uploaded about 150 tunes to www.soundclick.com/sleutelbos but won't post them all here for obvious reasons. So here are just three tunes, and if you like them feel more then welcome to browse the rest at leasure. :)

two Funky Aliens (psychedelic rock)

Broke but not Broken(piano&Cello mini-sonata)

Jelly Jezus(electronica)
www.soundclick.com/bands/...;songID=6161423
The jezus Jelly ascends at dawn
rearranges the stage
and revolts before it's victim.

Where lonely clowns eat soup for free
a divorce toys with his last thumb
and the stench dictates their faces

Jelly Jezus Jelly Jezus
Please pick up the phone
My soul is sold the story told
And I'm all alone at home

Jelly Jezus Jelly Jezus
Please pick up the phone
My soul is sold the story told
And I'm all alone at home

Thanks for taking the time to listen, hope to get to know as many people here as I can. :D

Welcome to HRC as well.

I'll agree that the Funky Aliens track is pretty trippy sounding indeed. Nice sound on the lead guitar parts. I liked the voice coming and going as well.

Nice sound on the Little sonata as well.

Jelly Jezuz, is well interesting indeed. Very experimental I would say.

I grabbed Verhaaltje in Groningen as well at random. That is a very haunting deep and dark track. I like the sampled voices of the mother and child in there. It really added to the spooky feel of it. Maybe a little too much distortion on some of the ambient sounds going on but it does add to the effect as well. Although the baby crying a bit past the 6 minute mark took me by surprise it again added some drama to the piece.

I'll be going back as time permits to listen to some more for sure.

Hey Sleutelbos,

Welcome aboard!

I listened to your stuff and enjoyed the sonata peice the best. I liked it all but I like that one best. The other 2 sounded like a strong Leonard Cohen type vibe to it.

Well done.

Hey, where in NL are you from? I worked in Tilburg and Arnhem for a few weeks.

Hue & Bleak: thanks for the welcome. :)

Noize2U: really glad to hear you liked it. So far there's been very little direction in my music so it's all kinda hit or miss, be carefull when you start delving into my page. ;)

Beerhunter: that's strange, nobody ever mentioned that but I really like Leonard Cohen a lot. Guess it shows, dunno if that's good or not. Oh, I'm a student in Groningen, the most northern city (or town, if you wish :P) of the Netherlands. Doubt you've been there if you were way down in Tilburg but it's a nice place here.

Sleutelbos, don't worry about me being careful. Ask around and you'll find I have a most interesting taste in music. There is pretty much nothing I won't listen to, some I may not go back for seconds, but most times I do. I find something interesting in almost every kind of music. So your music is of the most interesting variety, something different at every turn.

So yes, I am sure I will be finding lots of interesting stuff there.

And now that BH mentioned it I guess I can see the connection in hearing a little Cohen influence.

Yeah, I gotta give it to Noize. he listens to EVERYTHING. I remember I was walking past his house one day and he was cleaning his kitchen in a pink apron singing "I'm Every Woman."

Wecome to the forum, all well done, a bit on the experimental side for my tastes but good none the less. "The Devil Waits For Me" was pretty cool, as was the concerto piece.

Indeed, welcome to the forum. I prefer 'Broke, but not broken,' yet then again I'm partial to symphonic/orchestral arrangements by nature for some reason. I also like the 'Jesus Jelly' as well, it has a very experimental edge, kinda reminds me of the old Aphex Twin, back when he used to analog all his mixes in his basement in the 80's. To me at least, it's a welcome different.

Hope you find HRC as inviting as I did/do. This place is a plethora of knowledge and friendships. Cheers! :D
