My daughters concert last night

My oldest is in choir, they had a Christmas (oop, I mean "holiday") concert last night with the band.

4th and 5th grade choir doing 2 and 3 part harmonies, a couple soloists, my kid got to be part of a little tamborine/drum section for a tune...

Pretty impressive, and a 5th grader that lives down the street had a solo, great little singer...

It was fun, hopefully I'll get some of the video digitized to post (yeah, my camcorder is old-school).

You could tell the kids were having fun with "Jazzy Old St Nicolas"...what fun.

On the downside, my psycho neighbor's daughter was in the choir too, but her mom couldn't go due to her restraining order. Couldn't help but feel bad for the kid...

Awesome ! I've been to a bunch of those concerts(holiday and other) for the two boys(14 and 16, both in choir) that my gal has . I'ts pretty inspiring when you see kids trying to 'break a leg', for a show .

We had our "Holiday" concert here at school yesterday as well. I'm always amazed at what the Music teacher can do with those kids. He pushes them way beyond what they think they can do. They learn to take risks, and then are rewarded with a great feeling of putting on an incredible show.

Hmmm...sounds like another life lesson...

Yeah, agreed jim, real lesson.

Our kid was all nervous, which equals crabby, before the show, I talked to her about performing and nerves and stuff. She asked what I did when I was in bands and nervous...couldn't bear to tell her the truth (which involved drinking and drugs) so I just said the ol "push yourself" and "you've practiced all this time, you know what to do"...and she went out and had a blast.

Jinglebell Rock was a fav too, they rocked it.

I got sidetracked for a bit filming a little kid who wasn't being controlled by his parents. I saw an "Americas Funniest Home Video's" moment happening, but it never did. I was sure he was gonna hurt himself somehow on the wet gym floor around the chair, benched, chair racks and stuff.

Kid musicians are great. Even when they suck, you can't help but enjoy it because you know they're pouring their hearts into it.

A couple of years ago at son Gary's graduation from Job Corps, three little girls got up to sing the national anthem. Tambra and I both were amazed. We'd never heard it sung in so many keys simultaneously.

Sweet, I miss those days now. Both boyz loved doing it, although they would never let on as it wouldn't look cool. Kids doing musicals and I'm going to just say it, Christmas shows and the like are the best things to watch.

Too bad ya didn't get any video to send in. I love watching kids drop like rocks when they are misbehaving. Painful, yes I'm certain. But funny as all get out when a parent is shocked that their kid fell over from screwing around.

Comic memory:

I still remember the Christmas pageant in second grade, when I botched the choreography and bowed in the wrong direction. The laughs from the audience didn't strike me as funny at the time, but of course later I realized that it must have been hilarious.

Unfortunately, very few people shot home movies back then, so my performance is probably lost for eternity.
