A new use for the SUCK button

I just spent 1 hour on the phone and on line trying to purchase a 50 inch samsung TV. I was very excited about it. By the time circuit city got it right I'm not even sure I want to watch TV. But I have a hundred or more concerts that I want to see in vivid wide view, but this sucks. I have been bounced around to so many numbers I feel like I ought to be the one being paid now. No one should have to go through this to spend money.

I feel your pain!

That is the main reason I won't shop Circuit City any longer. They know nothing about anything, and they will indeed pretend to. Until you frighten them and then it is turned over to someone who can give you a bigger line of bull.

I agree, one should not have to be tossed around or put on hold while some toady that hasn't a clue find someone who might have a clue.

My feeling is if they know its going to be a bit, they should be calling you back. Not you having to call around to various locations to get and answer.

Man, that sucks, CC sucks, I was in there a few days ago shopping for mp3 players, nobody even bothered to ask me if I needed help...not that I needed any, but three people behind the counter, two guys hitting on the one girl, all just watched me, nobody said a thing...went to Best Buy and got helped right away, the dude had all the answers, what he didn't know he promptly looked up.

Ya, after picking up a new printer yesterday. It was the same kid I talked to the day before Thanksgiving. And he knew I was coming back on Friday to buy one. He actually remembered me and helped me pick a better unit for a decent price that will do just what I want and a couple other things. He was very prepared and knew all the goodies of each of them. Even steered me toward a slightly cheaper Lexmark which had about the same features for about $75.00 less. I still went with the HP because of their reputation. And I have had nothing but good luck with them.

No more CC for me.

Yeah, I tend to avoid asking salespeople questions about electronics anymore as chances are, I know more than they do (least with computers). There certainly are exceptions, however.

What kinda got my goat at best buy is my mother purchased an HP computer there, and I went to put another CD drive in it from her old computer and there wasn't any screws to install it (the screws function as sliders). went to best buy, they didn't have any either. Seems like poor tech support to me if you don't even have the basics needed to expand the products you sell. =/

Other than that, they've always been helpful and more than courteous.

Wow Noise, serious deja vu. I just bought an HP printer as well. I wanted to get one that I could print directly on to CD's with. FWIW - I'll only buy HP printers. I still use my HP LaserJet IIP which has to be about 20 years old by now.

I just bought an HP C7280 all-in-one dealio. Very cool other than the Win32 errors it's kicking out now and then. Nice prints, 6 cartridges, built in fax and multi-document feed...I am digging it.

I have a CD insert for an older printer I got, thought it was cool and never used it...I would sooner go for lightscribe.

I needed the direct to CD printing for what we have going on right now. Works great. Takes about 30 seconds to print. I looked at lightscribe awhile back but ended up wanting to go for full color. Picked this one up for $79. I didn't need anything other than printing CD's so with no scanner/fax/copier functions it was cheap. I already have an Officejet to do those things. Actually I've got too many printers right now...kinda silly really. Here's the list haha

HP Photosmart D5160- CD printer
HP Officejet 4215 all-in-one
HP Deskjet 1000cxi- wide printing (11x17)
HP Laserjet 5100 laser
HP Laserjet IIP laser

uhh, yah.

oh ya, I used to be a graphic designer so that is why I needed to stay up to date with printers.

My new use for the 'suck button' is my new radiator... I bought an oldsmobile aurora (at a thrift store auction) so there are no 'factory' parts... but the part I was able to buy was so generic that I currently have JB-weld clogging unused outlets... which is my respone to a big surprise when after installing the thing and starting the car up it managed to dump 3 gallons of antifreeze out in 30 seconds through an extra reservoir return... which means it went out on top of the engine... would have been nice if it at least came with a cap...

Probably the last thing I buy at Advance Auto Parts... though theres been accumulating reasons... the main thing is the entire 'source pro parts system' or whatever the **** they call it... where only one person at the store is allowed to sell you certain 'sourced' parts... so if you go in to order and he's not there then tuff ****... grrr...

JB Weld is awesome stuff, but you have to allow it a couple days to set, dont pay attention to the directions.

I have a 93' Jeep Grand Cherokee, and they're notorious for main exhaust headers cracking, which makes 'em really noisy. I put some JB on the cracks to cover em up and thought it didnt work at first. Did it again with a little more care and a 2 day cure time and viola!! No more noise. Drives like a new car still, just now without the noise.

We went shopping for HDTVs today. Went to Circuit City first, then ended up at Best Buy. The highlight of the day was the salesman trying to sell us an extended warranty for the light bulb in a DLP set.

DLP cracks me up no end.. what a brilliant concept: dozens of engineeers creating a miracle scheme of millions of mirrors... only to be illuminated with an Edison-type light bulb.

Yes I know, the LED lamps are coming.

Anyway, all sales teams were helpful; Best Buy had the better deal. Scored a new LG 47" LCD. Lawrence of Arabia is looking good on it right now!

I picked up a lightscribe burner at a computer show. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. But man the blank media prices are ugly.

BH, ya my old 952 finely took a crap after too many years of major abuse and printing CD labels and kids crap. I went with the one under dB the 6280 which is the print, scan, copy thing no disc printer though like the one below it. Nice though that it does either USB or network connection. And the card slots on it are cool as well if you don't want to open the app on the PC to print just one pic. But I also just picked up a light scribe and that'll work for me for now to do CD's and DVD's.

But ya, nothing but HP in this house either. Unless I get some fancy CD sprayer duplicator thing. But that is a ways off for now.
