Before yesterdays 'Smooth' session, we were working on a song which required me to sing, and play guitar simultainiously . I had a Roland AF-1 in the mic-line for my vox... it's an ungrounded piece of gear . The very small electrical shocks that I was getting whenever my lip touched the mic wasn't any concern to me... VERY small . However, after 50+ shocks, I woke up with my upper-right lip twice the size of the other three quadrants of my smile . Continuing with the performance under these conditions was right up there with some of the stupidest things I've ever done . It now looks like I'm attempting to sprout a tusk 'out the right side of my face .

So remember kids: Electricity can hurt you, even if it doesn't really hurt 'at first' .

PICS!!! :)

...one of my favorite experiences was plugging in a boombox to a loose outdoor power outlet (outlet attached to cable but not attached to wall) .... I remember screaming... and my arm hurt ...and I was at least 3ft from where I was originally... the funny part was that the faceplate to the outlet landed next to me about a second later...

...the unfunny part is the electrical burns that 'came out' over the next couple weeks...nothing serious... just my skin was peeling... 120v at 30amps...yay...

I watched a coworker take 480 as I turned around and stepped over a forklift guard rail to go back to my place on the line the guy that I was with at an lectrical panel flipping breakers suddenly flew past me...backwards...cleared the forklift rail and hit a 1000 pound box full of plastic resin to be melted into bags.

I ran over to him (he flew about 15 feet) and he looked up at me (totally "not home") and said "I'm alright"...them I called 911...he was OK, not the brightest guy anyway, couldn't help but feel bad, he had that peeling skin and stuff too...

Yup, there was a 'lil bit of the pealing skin thing in a couple of spots... the sweelling has gone down quite a bit since yesterday . I shoud've taken pics then(sorry zek)... now it's not so visually niticeable, but I can still feel the preasure of the swelling .

Man, 480 !? That guys very lucky to be alive ! Even 240'll blow y'a into next week pretty easily .

That's the thing, my shocks were minute comparatively... just repetative throughout the 2-3 hour session .

Yeah, how he survived I have no idea...

Man, even those little shocks over and over and over again would get old...

I worked as a service tech for Sears for awhile as a starving musician. Actually it was for a few years. Anyway, I'm sure you have all heard a tale or two of the lonely housewife or widower making advances on service people.

Well this nice older lady, probably mid to late 40's was one of those who had to stand and watch everything. But was also silently creeping up on me. I was re wiring the 220 on her dryer with it just leaned over toward me and resting on my groin area. What happened next was almost the death of my future family. She reached up from behind me and grabbed my groin area, which made me shove both my hands onto both live legs of the connection. Sell shortest path to ground was right through my groin area. Sent her flying and laid me out flat.

I promplty got up and limped back to the dryer and finished and quickly left the house, in severe pain by the way.

Never worked on an appliance without knowing exactly were the customer was at all time from then on out.

...and speaking of stupid things we do while contracting... my dad is dealing with some pretty serious cement burns on his calves... he kneeled in the stuff while screeding today... and of course won't go to the hospital... he even thinks he'll be sheeting tomorrow... I doubt he'll be able to put on pants... got my mom soaking him in vinegar now...so I'll see how that turns out tomorrow...
