POD XT Live -> Sonar 6 - HELP!

Hey guys,

I got this thing going on with my POD XTL and it has been happening ever since I got it.

If I have my POD plugged into the USB port and open an existing (previous) project in Sonar 6, all my M-Audio interfaces are gone and only the POD interface shows up. I know that I can (and have) used the POD as an interface but is it suppose to co-exist with my M-Audio cards?

If you use ASIO drivers thats why it dies, ASIO by nature only allows one device at a time unless specially developed, such as M-Audio making theirs to have multiple M-Audio devices run at once...but that won't work with other devices...if you use ASIO switch to WDM and see if that helps.

Yep, BH that is what I do if I want to use the USB audio in. Otherwise I simply run the UX or the POD XT and record the line outputs of either of them through the desk and into my ESI interface.

edit

I actually like the sound better when I use the line outs anyway of the POD or the UX.

Hi Noise, I actually do use the outputs on the POD for recording. I use the USB for tweaking sounds through GearBox/Edit.

Oh, then you just need to uncheck the drivers in Sonar to make them not active. My POD and UX-2 are always plugged in and active when Sonar is and I simply uncheck the drivers and dont use them. Except of course when I want the UX for bass or the mic pre's. Then I activate them and use them.

Glad it wasn't something serious. I get all worked up when Sonar or Line 6 gets blamed for stuff. :-)

A quick question though for you. Do you still use the AIR function when you run through a board with the POD?

Uhhh, *embarrassed* I don't know what "AIR" is.

I went to look on the Line6 website as to not look stupid and I found this which is a great reward for my ignorance.

Version 3 has been out for ages :)

AIR is the cabinet and mic modeling. You were already using it and just didn't know :)

Line 6's revolutionary A.I.R. Modeling accurately captures the tone and feel of speaker cabinets, microphones, and studio room characteristics for an amazing recorded sound on everything from the most prestigious pro studio setup to a multi-track cassette. Sounds like having a great amp mic'd by a great engineer in a great studio.

Oh, haha, oops. That's the studio direct thingy then.... I hope. In all honesty I just tried them all to see which sounded best.

As far as version 3, wow, I haven't used the Monkey since I got the unit. I guess I should be paying more attention to that stuff.

Yeah that Ver 3 update was nice.
I was running into the same thing with my Sonar Home Studio and I would just opened Sonar and then plugged the Live USB in.

Ya, sorry BH I should have stated what it is I guess. But see, it got you to go there and get goodies.

I run the Monkey at least twice per month just in case. Some of the updates since I bought my PODxt have been killer. But it also got me to pop for the model packs which really are killer.

Its kind of funny, I spend at least a couple hours a week just checking for updates to firmware, software and the like for all the crap in here now. I don't always count on getting an email to tell me there is an update for such and such.
