Oct 31, 2007 05:58 pm Dude, that is too cool. That would work just sweet for those out there that don't have a room or two in their house or apt. to use for recording. It would allow you to use it right near your gear as well since it would appear it will shield it from outside noise as well.

Oct 31, 2007 06:31 pm I'm seriously thinking about making one of these, maybe adapting it to attach it to a mic stand.
Oct 31, 2007 06:37 pm I'm planning on checking out the local Container Store, to see if they still have the folding boxes, I'll follow up when I know.

Nov 03, 2007 05:01 pm bear in mind that he's using an extremely nice shotgun microphone for that so the microphone itself will reject most of the noise from the sides.
if you're in a noisy place you could build a 'box in a box' to enhance the sound proofing of the sides and back...as most of us don't need the collapsibility...
But the box idea is a winner... I do something similar for vocals and ADR... but I think that looks much easier than my current setup of strapping two auralex bass traps to a mic stand...
Nov 03, 2007 06:55 pm this is incredible...definately building one.
Nov 04, 2007 02:58 am That is cool indeed. Did anyone else laugh that that dude carries that booth with him on a bike? Maybe he has a bike with the extra cart attached on the side..i dont know
Nov 05, 2007 09:15 pm I did find The Home Box manufactured by Reisenthel, at the container store. So it's still available. I did have to ask for it by name because there are a couple others, slightly smaller and larger. But none are as sturdy and the material didn't seem as though it would work as well as The Home Box. The price was still $19.99. But they did have a version of the Home Box that was at least twice as deep. There might be an application for a setup like that.

Nov 05, 2007 09:26 pm I'll have to see if they ship to MN as there is no such thing as the Container Store here.
Nov 05, 2007 09:36 pm The Container Store does have an online store, so chances may be pretty good for getting it online.

Nov 08, 2007 08:56 pm I tried wrapping studio foam around my microphone, pretty much the same idea, but I had trouble with it sounding flat (a lot like the dead room recordings from the 70's). I have an apartment with a skylight now, and when I sing right under it (using a good gate setting), it really broadens my sound.
