i do some recording for my school and they want to start paying me to record and mass produce there big concerts..... my only condenser right now is a Oktava mk319 i am wondering if u know a good set up to recording in a concert hall... and whats the best mics to use ot record.... thankx....

Jan 25, 2003 07:07 am There is a couple threads about this way back in the forums, basically just get a few condensors (how many depends on the size of the choir) and spread them equally across the choir...

Jan 26, 2003 11:07 am Yust a quick 2 cents from what I have used in the past. Go to Shure.com and download a couple of pdf's on mic placement. The have some dedicated to choral recording. There are four or so placements discussed. I use two up front slightly higher than the group angled to get the whole group and offer stereo image. Minimum 2/3rds the available distance from the back wall to avoid echo. I have used Rode NT1's but I do need to reverse curve their frequency response with a wave editor to get a true tone. I say this anticipating that you might be working with a choral director that may be more interested in true tone than marketable sound. I ran into that.
