Please could someone give some feedback on the mixing of this song ie reverb, EQ I should use. It's only two tracks, and i have only just started recording my own music.

That's a mighty big file for people to download. Perhaps if you convert it to an .mp3 for sharing purposes we would be more likely to listen to it...

Oh, and welcome to HRC! :-)

Mary, welcome to HRC. I'm down loading it now. I'm on a T1 so no problem here.

But indeed, jim is correct. You will get a few more listeners if you upload an mp3 file instead. If you go to your music section in your profile you will be able to upload an mp3 here at HRC for the listeners to hear. Plus it will play right in our player or you can allow download of it.

I'll try to listen tonight otherwise it will be tomorrow. But I will get to it and post some comments back here.

Mary, if I might ask how you recorded this? ie: what mic's, what software or hardware. Did you record the electric using an amp/mic set up or a direct modeler such as a POD or the like? Also, are you the guitar player on this piece, again I am impressed. It is a well played piece and very nice guitar tones.

I am a bit stunned as this does not sound like a first attempt at all to my ears. I'm very impressed by the sound you got.

And yes, I could not resist getting a listen tonight. I will indeed be giving it a much better listen tomorrow though and comment more on the sound of it. But honestly it is only tow track mixed but it sounds very good.

If you need help with doing the mp3 thing let us know and we can help you through that as well.

I didn't have much problem with the sound (the guitar sounds like a mic'd amp to me)as far as EQ, the rhythm guitar was crisp and clean.

My only thought would be that the strumming guitar was louder than the lead, which perhaps a different stereo field panning would solve (move the centered ryhthm more towards the right and the lead up a bit more towards the center?).

Also when it went into what sounded like the volume pedal on the lead the rhythm guitar overpowered it, so again, perhaps a bit less volume on the strumming and a bit more on the lead, especially or maybe even mainly on those 'volume pedal' parts.

I heartily agree, for a first attempt the sound was very well recorded, I really had no ideas re: EQ.

I would also simply ask you how you liked the sound. Is this what you would like to hear? Is there something you might have in mind as to how you'd want the guitar(s) to sound that you didn't hear on this? Ultimately it's your music! :)
