I have a new Inspiron 9400 (core 2 duo, 2gb ram, 7900gs, 160 gb hdd...) and I have 2 audio interfaces:
- M-audio SOLO firewire
- Line6 Toneport KB 37

When I use them with low audio buffer I have a series of Click, one for second, very regular... Its strange becuase 1 month ago I had a centrino laptop and I had not this kind of problem at low audio buffer...
And I can ear these click using both soundcard...
Do you have any Idea?

Hey there, I have a Toneport UX2 and a Dell laptop using a 1.8g single core chip. I don't have this problem. I'm sure you know all the obvious stuff such as keeping the wireless off and no having other apps open.

I also know the Toneport has some issues with certain kinds of USB ports so watch out for that.

What's your def of "low buffer"

With the Toneport technology there is no reason to go REALLY low. Mine is set at 512 (24 bit) and 4 clicks from the left on Monitoring, between Extra Small and Medium. I don't have clicks etc. recording both inputs with plenty of modeling on both.

I'm pretty certain it's your hard drive. I put my last system together (desktop) using IDE drives, and didn't use the UDMA cable, instead using the normal 40pin ribbon cable, forcing the drive to work at the 33mhz or whatever.

About every 2 or 3 seconds I'd get skip. It was pretty regular. When I rearranged some internals, I realized my boo-boo and used the UDMA cable, and all was well again.

I don't know if you can change anything in your situation, but it may help you decide what to do next.

See if you can get your hands on a usb or firewire drive and see if that changes anything. If it helps, then you have your solution, so to speak.

Looking again, I'm assuming this happens when you're recording.

Course, this is just my opinion, don't take my word for granted =).

yeah or XP64, it's okay to raise your buffers...you're system is plenty good to handle this (IF the two audio drivers play nicely with eachother) i'd try takin' one out and seein' if you get the same problems.

I got clicks and pops with my Dell laptop...
