Im getting an organ!

Well I was looking on Craigslist.com and I came across an add that was giving away a free organ as long as you can pick it up. Anyway, I called the guy and heard him play the organ in the background so me and some of my friends are making the 20 minute drive down there this weekend to pick it up and bring it back to my place.

Any other organ players on the site?

Cool! Free is always good. I have a fan organ, which i love but rarely sounds good on anything. Nothing like what you're getting, it's a portable plastic thing from the early 80s. My friend has a portable hammond, never seems to use it though, maybe i should ask for a loan of it.

It's really hard to resist the childish jokes that spring to mind here...

Mine is made out of wood and I've had it for quite awhile now. I want to get rid of it but my wife doesn't. :)

Mine is the old kind that you have to pump. A couple of good squeezes and it springs right to life though!

A buddy of mine had an old hammond, the singer of our band took it, when the singer got booted he said he's rather leave it there than go thru the hassle of moving the damn thing.

My mother in law has an old church type organ, three tier keyboard and foot pedals...I think she'd pay somebody to take it...

Noize, any interest :-)

Um, say what???

If I can twist the ball and chains arm a bit. AS if I need more stuff..

But indeed, my first organ was a real Hammond B3. Modified it shortly after getting it. It was a cross between Keith Emersons and Jon Lords mod's. It screamed bloody murder when the drive was cranked up. Mods included but not limited to a regular volume pedal, gain also pedal controlled, leslie speed and brake pedals as the factory swithing was bypassed. I used twin Leslie 120's. All was 60's vintage stuff, oh ya it was the sixties. :-) Then I got a Farfisa followed shortly by a Fender 73. Many others followed but the Hammond was my pride and joy up until about 79 when it and I parted ways. I wish I still had it.

umm... honestly... I might be a taker on that db... my chuch's organist has a thing against electronics... which is all we have... a yamaha P90 and a Clavanova... the clav is falling apart and the older pianist hates the P90... and I mean _hates_ ... mainly because of the existance of the demo button... which she accidently hits every once in a while...like during communion...

Man, if you can get out here and pick it up, let me know, I'll double check with her. Last we talked about it she wanted rid of it.

Let me know, I can get a picture of it and send it to you so you know exactly what it is and all that.

The coolest bit o' kit (UK peeps, you impressed with da slang?) I ever had was a 60's Moog Taurus Pedal. Got it for free, spent $250 reworking the entire thing...then sold it for $500...I still regret selling that but I never used it, so I don't know why I regret it, but I do.

yeah if you can take some pics and maybe find the make and model. Then I can figure how to deal with freight... either fly up and have it shipped or fly up and one way uhaul... or if it will fit in a pickup, etc... I'm sure I can work something out... it's a new Episcopal chuch so we need clutter. :)

dude, this is crazy. i was thinking about posting an ad on craigslist asking for a free piano. i had this idea last year, and i think it can work as long as i'm persistent. this is great that you got this!

wow, it worked! a woman responded in 24 hours offering me a free baby grand. a few keys don't work, but that could be fixed.

unfortunately, this is just a test. i can't get a piano unless i know for sure i'm staying, which i don't, so hey. but proof of principle!
