Should I covet that Digitech RP250?

Only $150, and looks and sounds pretty good. There's USB connection for 24 bit recording, and download of patches, plus X-Edit software to change the sounds.
The three main knobs on it work exactly like the knobs that would be on the pedal they are emulating, so it's quite easy to 'program' without the X-Edit program. Also, built from metal this time...Earlier RP series were plastic.

Any thoughts? Remember, $150...

I know there are many Digitech haters out there, and the POD XT etc. are all wonderful, but...$150...That's the same price as just one or two standalone pedals.

What would it be for ? Live or Recording ?

I'm not a Digitech hater but I've not had much success with the 3 products of theirs I've owned. I generally didn't like the sounds and they were rather unreliable.

If it's just for recording there are other options in that price range. For live play it might be worth it. Can you get it on a buy & return purchase ?

I'll say three hail mary's and four Jimi Hendrix as penance.

Well, I went ahead and got it. OMFG!
Why did I not get one sooner? The X-Edit software rocks - you can manipulate the sounds with a mouse click, and it's soooo quiet. Great sounds right out of the box, and then with a little tweaking....
I found myself going back to old projects and re-recording the guitars on some tracks.
Very nice. Did I mention $150.00!!!

S'funny, that little RP80 now seems such a toy...Night and day difference.

The emulations are quite believable. There are all the classic amps and pedals, with real Lexicon reverbs. Nice.

Did you even look into the Line 6 UX-1 or UX-2? They can be had on the cheap as well.

But hey, glad yer liken the thing then.
