OK so i did some mixes live and then added some back up vocals. I need you guys advice on the mix. I know It needs to be mastered, but before i do that i want you advice. feel free to tear me a new one. the mixes are on

you probably want to download them instead of streaming it off myspace.
thanks

Feb 26, 2007 12:58 pm which ones are you talking about...
Don't fade away: i'd say maybe a bit more bottom end, and the panning at the beginning of the song is kinda wierd in headphones. Vocals are kinda dry, but if that's what you want, then no problem. Otherwise, sounds pretty good.

Feb 26, 2007 01:23 pm Myspace does it's own compression which really takes away from a song imo. Got a link to the originals?

Feb 26, 2007 04:42 pm On Don't Fade Away, the cymbals/hats are pretty high in the mix, which I think distracts from the song.
Nice stuff.

Feb 26, 2007 05:28 pm Agreed on the cymbals being a tad high. The vocals also seem just a hair loud (sometimes), I think this has to do with the cymbals also asyou probably had to crank vox to keep em in front.
Good song writing though and very good tone on the guitars. All in all a nice recording that needs minor tweaking.

Feb 27, 2007 02:45 pm The ending song:
Drums sound nice! On the chorus, guitars really seem pushed in the background. Main guitar part that is panned kinda to the left would prolly sound better I think if it was either closer to the middle, or taking up more of the soundscape. Maybe a copy panned equal amount right as the one panned left with seperate (slightly different?) effects. I'm thinking the whole sound needs to be more full, that's all. But it sounds nice and clean.
Feb 27, 2007 09:03 pm on memories if i can suggest i think the vocals need to be a bit louder, tho its my opinion. but i think everyone can agree its nice to hear lyrics, lol.
if u cant hear them theres no point in them being there ;)
Feb 27, 2007 09:04 pm btw backround vox on pretty much every song is just about perfect in my views, tho if u change levels that will change :(
just bus it ;) lol
