Alesis MulitMix 16USB, Multitrack with Cubase LE

Hi,

I've just bought an Alesis MultiMix16 USb which came with a free copy of Cubase LE.

Everything is working ok, it found the drivers etc, but I can't seem to get Cubase to recognise each of the mixer's channels as seperate channels in the program.

Can anyone help me sort this rather annoying multitrack prob out.

Cheers.

I am looking at mixers in this line, too. The way I understood it, the USB version only send a stereo mix through the USB line. If you want seperate channels you need the firewire version of the board.

I hope I'm wrong for your sake, though

Have a look here to make sure everything is installed correctly. www.alesis.com/downloads/...Track_Setup.pdf

Then go back here and grab the quick start and manual. www.alesis.com/index.php?id=56,30,0,0,1,0

I don't see mention of setting up multiple tracks but it does state the set up is for multi-track recording.

Following your link Noize, I saw this in the operations manual:
The USB port sends the Multimix’s MAIN OUT/TAPE OUT left and right signals to the computer.

The USB port receives a stereo audio stream from the computer and assigns it to the TAPE IN left and right channels of your Multimix mixer.
Looks like summed stereo is all you get out of the USB port. DOH! And to think that I've been recommending these mixers to people thinking that they could get individual tracks out of it. What a rip!

Ya, I only gave it a quick once over really. I have pretty much been under the impression that the USB ones will only do a stereo i/o and the firewire is the one that will do multi-channel i/o.

But I do have to say the some of the makers are advertising using wording that would lead everyone to believe they can do multi-channel.
