Just recorded this song. Its intended to be released for the summer so don't mind all the talk of beaches and bikinis.
I like the way the mix sounds, however I think the vocals might be a little quiet. I want to know how to get them to stand out but also allows me to hear the beat. Overall the mix is so much quiter then professional songs I have compared it too. The mix has sounded pretty good on all my speakers. Other then noticing the vocals are quiet. I also noticed on one boom box it sounded like the vocals were airy and there was no low end.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Feb 19, 2007 05:36 pm Oops, bad link for me. It takes me to the 44kb track05.cda file.
Holler when you get it fixed so I can check it out.

Feb 21, 2007 01:37 pm Vocals could stand a slight boost. If you need it louder, maximization of the master will probably help you out. Otherwise, mix sounds good. How are you eqing the vocals?
Feb 21, 2007 03:32 pm I'm using the EQ in Cubase. What do you suggest as a boost and also can anyone that uses izotope tell me what preset they use for mastering.

Feb 21, 2007 04:07 pm I guess what I meant is what frequencies are you boosting and which are you cutting on your vocal track.
I generally cut a few db from 80Hz and below, and boost somewhere between 1200Hz to 1700Hz and maybe a small cut around 500Hz and/or 2100Hz if I think it's warranted.
