I went flying today...unfortunatly I was in my pickup... which is now in a couple pieces...

I was pulling out of a five way intersection on a countyline rd and was comitted when I saw the other car speeding towards me. I floored the gas...he floored the breaks...and he hit in the vicinity of my rear driverside tire... being that I didn't have a load he went under the truck and spun me around and I landed in a corn field. It was a very soft impact all together and nobody was injured.

It was rather amaizing how hard it was to describe the location to the police and insurance companies:
Me :"ok, it;s a five way intersecion on a county line rd... one road is countyline and tippit...the other is duncain plains, the other edwards... the other center village...
Insurance: What county?
Me: one car is in licking...the other in knox... and pieces are in between...
Insurance: What town is it?
Me: uhh... Johnstowns about ten miles away... I landed in a corn field..
Insurance: ooo can you check to see if you're leaking fluids in the corn field?

we had to deal with the ohio highway patrol... so I think both of us got tickets... me for failure to yeild and I think he got excessive speed...

well.. my damage was the tailgait was ripped off... rear driver side tire ripped off... cap off...broken rear axle... and It sounded like thrown rod when I landed...maybe bent driveshaft...

other car I think was missing the front driverside tire and the windshield was shattered from the passenger airbag.

I leaving for florida on wednsday and very much looking forward to it.

i was just telling someone about my habit of glancing quickly left and right whenever i approach an intersection, just to make sure no one is coming. i grew up driving just assuming that if the light was green everything was cool. then one night in cocoa beach a huge pickup truck nearly clipped me--he was barreling through a red light with his headlights off at about 70, no intention of stopping. if things had been a little different, it would have sucked. ever since then i try to glance at the intersection in advance.

glad no one was hurt.

yeah here in houston, red doesn't mean stop all the time... sometimes it means "Eh screw it I have neough time before theres turns green to make it". I've been in several situations that could have turned out a lot worse because of someone doing that.

Damn, glad to hear you're not hurt Zek. I have visions of you recreating that famous John Elway Super Bowl highlight where he gets hit and does the full-body helicopter for a first down. Just like that only in a pickup, right: ;)

heh, it was more of a horizontal 180.

but to give an idea as to what it was like.

grab a bunch of boxs (these represent the pieces that went flying off) ...walk forwared.. have a friend crumple a pop can behind you... and then simultaniously turn around and throw the boxs over your head...

the adjuster might email some pictures later today... but I'm cutting out to florida early...like in a couple hours...
