Yay, the power is back on

Well after a 24 hour outage we finally have power back on at our home. Wind and very heavy rain still has several 1000's in the dark. The whole city is a mess still however.

Traffic lights have been out around the city as well which has created grid lock in some spots. My main hiways are covered in branches and litter as a result.

Thankfully it appears to be coming to an end.... except for more high winds expected tomorrow so we may go through it all again.

Vancouver under boil water advisory

A boil water advisory has been issued for the entire Greater Vancouver Area.
Vancouver Coastal Health spokesman Viviana Zanocco said Thursday the warning was issued because Wednesday's storm dumped large amounts of dirt and mud in the region's three reservoirs.

"We've never seen turbidity this high," she said.
The entire region is affected, but the problem is worst on the North Shore.
The health region is advising hospitals, care facilities and restaurants to change the way they prepare food.
Water should be boiled for one minute, then cooled thoroughly before drinking. Or persons should drink bottled water.
The ban applies to brushing teeth and washing food. Showers are okay.
Zanocco said she doesn't know how long the ban will last.
Persons drinking water are at risk of suffering diarrhea and vomiting because bacteria is present in the water.

Hope everything works out for ya! We had some 40mph winds here, but 40mph isn't the highest I've experienced in N. Idaho. We had some that gusted to about 70mph back in '90. Good luck! Don't drink the water, BEERS all around!

LOL yeah just drink beer. I don't see a problem here.

Seriously tho, I hope that everything's still upright and in one piece at the Mr. B. Hunter residence!

Speaking of which, I think that one of the 15 beers I had last Friday night had that bacteria in it because I didn't feel so good on Saturday.

Haha, ya we're jammin' tonight (supposed to be last night) and we'll be staying safe by drinking beer. If I don't make it in to work tomorrow it won't be because of the dozen beers, it will be because of the water in the coffee that I drank AT WORK today!.

Actually by comparison to a lot of the **** that some people have to go through, this is minor. Although there have been a couple of related deaths, we weren't hit as hard where I live. I'm missing a bunch of roof shingles and it's pretty messy outside but all in all things are not too bad. Certainly could've been worse.

Milwaukee WI had something like that a couple summers ago. The entire sewer system backed up and they ended up dumping millions of gallons of raw sewage straight into lake michigan. The beaches have always been a little dirtier since then...
