Our concept album - scratch tracks

Hey all,

We have finally assembled all of the content for our concept album. We are now in the process of ripping it all apart and rebuilding it all from the ground up. It seems to have taken for ever to get this far and now we have the overwhelming task of doing it all again. However, this time around at least we have all the music and lyrics and just have to redo our performances. Since it will be quite a while before I will be able to upload any new content I thought I would put up these tracks so that you can see what we will be up to over the next several months.

Since these are scratch tracks you will hear a few problem areas but none the less here it is in its somewhat raw form. The album tells a story about a guy whos life takes a turn for the worst.

Thanks for listening. All feedback is welcomed.

Thanks Hue,

We have used quite a few different instruments while writing this. This is one of the reasons we are rewriting is that we want to be more consistant with our sound. We used different mics for the vocals as well and this is also causing some inconsistencies.

Take care,
Lonnie

I know I've listened to some of your stuff before, but I'm liking this more as I go. I'll post more tommorrow after I take it all in when I can crank this up on the big speakers. I love the opening track though. What a way to start the disc out.

Let me fill you in on the idea behind this (Since this is a concept album we are hoping to take you on an emotional ride). It is a story about a hard case joe (actually we haven't decided on his name yet).

Anyways, the story goes like this;

-He has a really shitty day at the grocery store that he works at (Aisle of Spies)

-Wonders if he will ever have a better life (Searching for so long)

-Wakes up in a rage cause things are crappy (Awake the Giant)

-Decides to go out to the bar and get pissed. Takes a woman home but gets ripped off (Gonna be that way)

-Wandering around late at night he sees a picture on a magazine cover that reminds him of whom he really loves and when times were good(Contact)

-Depressed, everything gets to be too much (Best of Me)

-Starts to loose grip on reality (The Crossing)

-To late he's lost it (Fallen)

-Its all over now, down he goes (Spiral)

-Looks back at his life and realizes... (Today Will Never Come)

-OD's and falls into a coma (Not This Time)

-He passes away and friends remember him they way he use to be (Sticks of Steel) *Note - I wrote this song about a dear friend that passed away this year. I wanted to put this song on the album but this concept album is not a story about him (Charlie Hodgson - RIP).

-Passes away and is finally free (Master of Time)

I know, I know, its a very dark story but it would be cool if it could serve as a reminder to live life to the fullest and not give in or you may find yourself in a "Spiral".

Anyways, there ya go.

That is great that you got Sticks of Steel in there as well.

It may be dark but I am sure there will be people who will relate to it.

I'm going in for another listen tonight.

Hi Noise,

Actually we weren't sure if we would include Sticks of Steel on the CD or not. I think that the song "sounds" like it belongs but I'm still not sure if we will use it or not. We are also not too sure about "Be That Way". This is another song that sounds somewhat like it doesn't belong in a way. Anyways, regardless this is what we have for now and maybe as we start tearing the songs apart we might come up with something else. You never know.

Take care,
Lonnie

Well hopefully it can stay, for the nice gesture. but as you stated, if it really doesn't fit in its hard to justify it for only the sentimental reasons. I've been down that same road before and know its a tuff decision, but sometimes it is the right one.
