Oct 17, 2006 06:19 am Snagging has been illegal here in Michigan for quite a while now . It's a pretty ugly way to catch a fish... or a human, if you happen to be standing next to some smashed 'fisherman', that has a 4oz wieghted treble hook swingin' around like some cowboy on ether .

Yep, snagging is illegal almsot everywhere now. But some suckers still do it. Just like gill nets and the like. Completely ruins it for someone trying to fish honestly.

Oct 18, 2006 04:25 pm oh yeah, up here in the north (of michigan), there's lots of snaggers. the dnr has gotten real creative in catching snaggers.
i've heard of one officer dressing up in drag, and arresting people. i've heard other times when he's dressed up all in fishing gear, and arrested people, and i've heard times of him getting in one of those little personal inner tube / waders, and floating down the river, to catch people.
I used to go with people snaggin, but to be the lookout. I never got too much into the snaggin itself.
Now-a-days, I just order the fish dinner at the restaurant =).
