Look out up there in Minnesota, the Chiefs are having a scrimmage against the Vikes in Mankato at 6:30. Let's hope there is less pushing and shoving than the last time we tried this. And no injuries!

Hey you guys will be glad to see Micheal Bennett again, although this time he'll be wearing red and gold instead of purple. Hopefully you'll only have to see his backside as he whizzes around the outside edge on toss and sweep plays :)

Oh gawd its nice to be able to talk football again. I've missed it. I'm addicted. I've visited NFL.com every day during the offseason. Does that make me pathetic?

eh, Michael Bennett is such a one-season wonder...the dude gets injured on a treadmill, I mean, come on!

I think the two teams get all nasty on purpose just for early media attention, but I may be wrong...but it happens every season for the last few years, ya think they'd just stop...if you pansy KCers can't handle it, go train somewhere else! :-)

If you are pathetic, so am I!

I dunno about my Vikes this year, I am really looking forward to the season, but am having a really hard time getting in my Vikings mode...

Well there's a lot of change to accept from the Vikes this year. I mean in the past 2 seasons Moss and Culpepper, a couple of running backs, offensive linemen, and the head coach and his staff have all departed. That's gotta be a little unnerving, not really knowing how its all going to come together.

Of course its the same on the Chiefs side of the ball too. New head coach, lost a couple of terrific offensive linemen and a terrific offensive coordinator, but we got a good backup running back, an excellent corner, a couple of promising draftees and some good returning talent.

We'll have to keep our fingers crossed!

Yeah, I can accept a lot of the change, player change is good in most of these cases, it's just that head coach that I haven't made up my mind on...I just don't know about Childress.

I was glad to see Bennett get released, glad to see Smith gone...

I wasn't aware the Cheifs changed coaches...

Yup, Herm Edwards wiggled out of his head coaching job with the Jets and replaced Vermiel when he retired after the end of last season. I like Edwards a lot, he was coached by Vermiel back in the 80s when they were with Philly. He seems to have a good coaching philosophy, and he brings some good mojo to the defense since he used to be a corner back. Plus the players really seem to be buying into his approach. Hell Tony Gonzalez seems to be beside himself about Herm. Same for Ty Law, another great addition to our defense.

I'm actually glad to see Bennett come aboard. He gives us some speed (he professes to still run a 4.25) that we need because Priest was such a great outside runner and Johnson is more of a between-the-tackles power runner. We have a really talented and mobile offensive line and our perimiter running game is something to focus on.

I think the first preseason game, the Hall Of Fame Game, is on either this weekend or next week sometime. I can't wait!!!

Yeah, well, enjoy Bennett while you have him, he won't last long...I am guessing you'll be incredibly disappointed over all...

slightly off topic, but I have to admit that I don't get nearly excited about football as I used to when I was younger. It could be that part of it is the Niners aren't nearly as good as they used to be. But more than that, it seems pro football is less exciting than it used to be.

College football on the other hand. I'm becoming more and more of a fan!

I only follow a couple of Big 12 teams, mainly Oklahoma and Oklahoma State since I'm from around there and have a few friends/relatives that have attended those schools. But now that OU cut its star sophmore quarterback (?!?!), I'm not so sure that I'll watch this season.

But the NFL is where its at to me. If anything, with the dawn of the free agency and salary cap era, I'd say that NFL football is more exciting than ever since the playing field is much more level. No more talent-hogging dynasties that build up the money to pay for every top player like in baseball (blech!)

If you're a 49ers fan, I can see why you're not all that excited lately. They've been pathetic in every dimension of the game lately. But spending so much time at the bottom of the league allows lots of top draft picks. Now it looks like you've got a good young QB, a super talented TE, a couple of great young WRs. Hopefully they'll get some help on the defensive side of the ball and make a run in the next couple of years. Rebuilding eras suck!

I think I'm so into it because I have a team to root for here in KC. I never cared about pro football until I moved here, and now I feel like I have something invested in it, like I'm a part of it.

I don't know, it seems that the athletic level in the NFL has reached it's peak pretty much across the board. So you don't really get the walter paytons or barry sanders, or too many people just making lots of high light plays too often. T.O. might be the one unfortunate exception. It seems like everything is evened out and all you get are a series of 5 to 7 yard runs until you get a touchdown. I think part of it is the coaching is also much better so you don't have room for offensive players to do as many exciting plays. I don't know, as a whole, it all seems just more methodical and less fun.

I don't know about pathetic...

If we're talking obsessed, I might be in the running, I just got back from checking out the Giants at training camp.

yeah forty, that's just my perception. I've never been a huge fan of watching teams that I'm not rooting for, but when I do, it's pretty boring, and it seems more boring these days than before (7-10 years ago). But get the good Div I college teams, and it's almost always exciting.

i watched the steelers in the playoffs, but i can't remember anything except that linebacker with the big hair making an interception and getting shafted, and ben making a tackle on jerome bettis's fumble.
