Aug 01, 2006 09:56 am Cool I'm in, as long as our draft isnt until after the preseason. There's nothing worse than having one of your draftees get cut or injured before the season even begins!
I was thinking about startng my own league again this year but I think I'll just join in to the HRC league and forgo the challenge of finding 9 other people to join up.
I've got a good feeling about this year. Hopefully I won't bring up the rear again like last year!

I was planning on an automated draft, like last year. (Your team is picked based on your player rankings, or just do what I do and let the computer decide!)
I was thinking of a Labor Day draft date. Sound good? That'll give us a week to make some roster moves and talk more smack.

Absolutely! That's the way I do it. I just accept the default Yahoo! player ratings and let the draft deal them out to me. Then I just take what I get.
I'm not convinced that the people who "know what they are doing" perform any better in fantasy football than those of us who don't really pay that close of attention.

I may have to rearrange my pre draft players though. It sounds like moving the players to a better order then assigned might alter your chances in the draft. I'm gonna have to read a bit on it before I muck about in there though.
But I like the idea of just letting the thing ride. One thing that disturbs me is having Mr. Owens in my pre draft list. And I thought I saw Manning in there as well.
Aug 03, 2006 09:41 am As much as I might hate Owens, he's a fantasy stud if he can play the whole season. he's tough and talented. And a jackass. Luckily being a jackass doesn't count against your fantasy team tho :D
And Manning has to be the absolute #1 fantasy QB. He'll be high in my pre-draft rankings for sure. He's poised for a great season this year, especially after losing Edgerrin James to Arizona. Losing your star running back = good news for the QB as far as fantasy goes...they'll be passing more to compensate!
Oh geez I could spend hours fiddling with the pre-draft rankings. Which means that I should probably just leave it alone. Like was said above, even the guys that think they know what they're doing don't have much of an advantage over the guys that don't. Its all luck and chance, with a little bit of know-how mixed in.

Aug 03, 2006 09:42 am I took Owens off my draft roster, he'll end up screwing whoever gets him, I'm pretty confident, and there are plenty of good recievers available.
And yeah, Manning is the man!
Aug 03, 2006 09:53 am I did that a few years back with Randy Moss. His attitude drove me nuts so I took him off my rankings. Then he went and had a monster season, one of the best of his career. Doh!

Aug 03, 2006 10:15 am one thing I learned (the hard way) is that when one real team has a buy week, then your players on that team won't get any points.
So you have to go into your roster, and switch one guy out for another. At least for that week.
Also, there's injuries. If one of your players gets injured, or suspended =), you'll have to swap somebody out or trade the lemon for a good player.
I did that a few times in the season, and it helped.
I forgot a few times, and lost by a few points too, so it kinda sux when you know you'd have won, but forgot to put in a useable player.

It says on my team page that the league won't be permitted to draft unless we have an even number of teams. Does somebody out there have just 1 more friend that would come join? We've got about 10 days before our scheduled draft.

If anyone is going to make some adjustments to the pre-draft rankings, they better do it soon, as the draft could happen at any time!

Sep 03, 2006 07:24 pm I totally redid my predraft rankings. I cleared it and filled in about 120 picks in order. I think I did all right as a result (or maybe by blind luck).
My team pretty much rocks. Top notch QB, great RB, excellent TE, kickers and defense. Prepare to go down in flames HRC-ers!

Jacksonville for defense, and Elam kicking.
So am I only allowed to have 7 of my 11 offensive players active for the week?

Seriously though, anyone wants him I'm upfor a trade.
