Pops and Clicks

I know there was something posted on here not to long ago with pops and clicks but that was in audio. Im getting the pops and clicks when playing the midi (regardless if recording the midi or not). I was looking everywhere to resolved this.

I went ahead and changed the sample rate from 48 to 41 while it got rid of the clicks, it changed the whole tone of my Roland Fantom keyboard.

I have 2 other instruments, an MPC and a Korg synth and never get any of those nasty pops and clicks. Only with the Roland Fantom is it giving me trouble. The only thing i could think of was local switch but i have that turned off.

Any ideas? Much appreciated.

Well it could be your clock source. I don't know how you have your setup, but your problem is localized to the roland and not to your entire recording rig. So I would think that you need to make its internal clock the master while playing and recording it. Or of course there is always the possibility of a defunct digital audio cable. In any case, this problem should be easy to resolve since it is only with your roland. Plus its a fantom which is not an old synth, so it is most likely a sync issue or an old cable...

Thanks GM87, I belive i do have it set to master. Ill check it out again though, if that doesnt work ill try another S/PDIF cable.

Thanks again.

no prob, I don't know how your roland is hooked up and what it is recording to, but I think it is definatly a sync issue, so if setting to master and trying another cable does not work, then simply try different clock settings in the fantom and possibly in what it is interfacing with until you hear no more clicks or pops.

I have to agree. It does sound as though it might be the cable. Unless you have a bad digital out on the Phantom itself. Changing from 48 to 44.1 should not give you an audible degredation of sound at all.
