Okey, if you could have a rack with any ten peices of gear in it, what would you have and why?

-Power Conditioner - obvious reasons
-Compressor/Gate - obvious reasons
-Line 6 POD Pro - cuz it's da best
-Line 6 BassPOD Pro - cuz it's da bass of da best
-Reverb Unit - obvious reasons
-Preamp(multichannel) - obvious reasons
-A good multi-band EQ - room control and channel inserts
-Surround Sound Preamp - decode digital outs of my sound card into 6 channel (or 8) surround
-6 (or 8) channel amplifier
-2 PC's hooked together via VST networking.

i see db took some liberties with the "10" pieces of gear and went 1 over =P

this is an impossible question. so much gear, not enough space.

providing all the boring pieces like power conditioners were not needed and that the studio situation was perfect..

hhb radius 40 - my tube preamp, eq, and compressor
tech 21 sansamp psa-1 - sweet guitar preamp goodness
ada mp-1 preamp - discontinued but classic
access virus c - my lord this piece sounds good
novation a-station - same as the k-station but
racked
e-mu virtuoso 2000 - entire orchestra in a module
rack mount pc - gotta have something to run the backing samples and atmosphere

thats 7.. ill have to think of some more

I have no idea on what I'd have in mine since I don't know what a lot of the stuff does...

what exactly does a power conditioner do, I've seen em before but never knew what they did.

they keep your power from spiking, surging or in other ways damaging your hardware. simply function.. not very exciting to purchase but needed when you get a lot of gear going.

Ya "THAT ALL" they are...I dunno how many of you have hualed your racks in and out of clubs and such, but might I say the smaller clus generall have less-than-optimal power supplies for bands, thereby making a power conditioner necessary, so necessaary it has become a default part of my thought process when building a rack.

Not only that but they have cool little pull-out lights on them so if you put it at the top of your rack they shine down the rack so when the lights are off in the club you can still see your stuff.

A power conditioner of some sort is a must, if you intend to keep your gear running perfect. I don't know about all of you, but the power coming into my house is less then perfect. So the need to protect the huge investment in outboard gear I have, it is a must.

I will post a gear list tonight.

Yeah, I don't really know what I'd put in a rack, which is why I asked this question
