Hello guys,
New Lone star laundry song, give a listen if you get the chance. This one has a freind doing the main piano parts with a few lines added by me.
It's here:

Mar 28, 2006 04:28 pm Hey man that was great! I like the song a lot. Your voice really reminds me a lot of Mark Linkous from Sparklehorse. And that's a good thing :)
I think that the vocals could come down just a bit. They are very well recorded though. I love that close proximity sound...it really enhances the low end of your voice at different points.
Nice piano playing. Is it a real piano or digital?
Very nice relaxed and mellow song.
Mar 28, 2006 07:19 pm Nice, really mellow song. I like your voice too, just a couple of places seemed a bit pitchy. Harmonica part is very homey, welcoming. Seems a little short for such a nice ballad. I enjoyed it!

Mar 28, 2006 09:57 pm I gotta agree with Tadpui on the vocal. Just a tiny bit down and you would be set. And the Sparklehorse comparison is right on Tad, good call. I couldnt place it after listening to all his tunes. Now I can.
Agree as well, very relaxing and well writen if you ask me.

Mar 29, 2006 01:18 am Very nice mac. Real nice job on the vocal, I agree it could be brought down just a bit but it really sounds good. Harmonica fits the song perfectly, and the piano was just right. Great work.

Tad, the piano is from an 80's Yamaha synth (YS200). They were recorded di dry and mixed with some verb (possibly too much)and a bit of delay. I had a listen to some sound clips of sparklehorse, pretty good stuff and i'll try and get hold of some. His voice reminds me a little of Will Oldham (Palace bros).
DungB/Noize/OD, cheers for the complements on the vox. I agree, they're pretty loud (unusual for me). This was the first take i did for a demo for the piano player to write some stuff over. A couple of the lines were just temporary fill ins but i was never able to capture the voice how i wanted it again so just dropped the original take in as it was. I'm pretty made up with the way my voice sounds on this.....and thats my excuse for them being so loud!!
All the best, mac
