Dance Music

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but this is directed at the site administrators. I been lurking on these forums for a few months and noticed the new "Member's Music" section and I'm excited about going ahead and finishing a few tracks I've been kicking around just so I can get them up and linked to. My style leans heavy towards "Industrial" but I also have a tendancy towards more happy/trancy stuff. I'm not sure how to classify those songs. I think maybe "Industrial" is a little too specific a category, maybe the name could be broadened to "Electronic" or "Dance" to attract a wider spectrum of artists. Unless you have something against us clubby types ;O) just kidding! Anyone else have any music that doesn't quiet fit?? -j

You got it, "Electronic" it is. Good suggestion, thanks for the input. I was not sure what categories to use, I just added categories for what I knew some members played hoping for feedback to fill in the blanks, but as it turns out practicallly nobody is even using it.

Anyway, "Electronic" sound good and generic enough, I like it. So I changed it.

Nope, acoustic is not a music style it's an instrument style, and I am not adding any more categories until the ones there get used...I don't want a hundred categories with nothing in them...matter of fact I don't want 6 with nothing in them...

There is acoustic rock, acoustic pop, acoustic country, etc...

he had that there for my music. i think im the only one doing industrial here. but i can live with 'electronic' as a category.

and db, i had been meaning to add mine for a long time but gave up on trying to figure out on whether to list it as individual songs or just my site. i opted for just the site =)

naw, you wont be the only one exploring the darkside, collapse. I have a few songs in the works along those lines, although i'm sure they're nowhere near as good as yours. I downloaded three of your songs a few weeks ago: impressive. moody. you have real skill, man. hopefully once enough members start posting their own music, the administrators will break up the categories for us. -j

That is exactly what I said upon launch, as one category gets a few too many songs that category will be further broken down into subcategories...I just don't want to have a bunch of empty categories to start...but now that we have folks like collapse posting one link to their whole website rather than to each song they will not fill up as fast.

So, folks, if you want more targeted cateogries, list your songs one by one rather than one link to all your songs...

So that makes collapse at fault here ;-)

doh! if i can remove my current posting.. then i suppose ill link to each individual song =P did not know that was the preferred method.. but ill change to that format

also, thanks jamie for the compliment. im always trying to do something new in my music that i havent done before. i generally try to get a new song posted at least once a month. sometimes it happens sometimes it doesnt.

edit: i corrected my "error" =P

OK collapse, I will dig up one of my older industrial tune's, so you won't be lonely in that catagorie. I was going to put up something a little more hardcore, but now that I give it some thought, I would rather have something up that would not be expected form me.

hehe, most of what I do is master other folks stuff...BUT, I am trying to get some vocals (I suck) on some of my original stuff and get some posted. Some of the guitar work is from the long, lost George, from fourms long ago, I stillhave a few of his chops on the ol' hard drive. Noize and I have talked about collaborating on a couple songs to post as well...

Don't hold your breathe though...I just got the first couple scene from that film to start working on now...I just came here to check for new messages before I open them up.

That is a good idea, it has been discussed briefly at our beer-drinkin "staff meetings"...it is just a matter of how to facilitate it...if it is just member to member via email, or does the website play a role somehow.

Any thoughts there, ideaman? :-)

That is how I have done about 30 differant tune's wiht people. Mostly via e-mail, but also I tried Rocket and a couple of other realtime thing's, and it was quite a thrill tosee it take shape on line over the course of 3 or 4 hour's. I think it would be great to collaborate for the website.
